COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – Patient Broadcast # 19
CONSULTATIONS:
The WA government’s public health orders require up to 14 days isolation for Covid contacts and this has serious implications for staff and services at Como GP. Como GP’s priority is to provide patients with a continuity of service in these challenging times and we are therefore taking measures to reduce Covid exposure by minimizing foot traffic through the practice. This will reduce the risk for Como GP staff and give patients the confidence to attend the practice in person when their medical condition requires it.
As such, all consultations at Como GP must now initially be conducted as a Telehealth or Telephone appointment, with bookings made through HOTDOC preferred. If your appointment is urgent and there are no appointments available on HOTDOC, please call our friendly reception staff on 6165 2444. Appointments already booked will now be conducted by telehealth unless otherwise notified.
During these initial phone appointments, your doctor will advise if they need to conduct a further review with a face-to-face consultation. This may take the form of a consultation while you are sitting in your car in the car park at Como GP or, in some circumstances, a consultation in the doctor's usual consulting room. Patients that are clinically required to attend a consulting room inside Como GP must wear a mask and sanitise their hands prior to entering and leaving Como GP. All patients are required to register their attendance with the ‘SafeWA’ app or our manual register.
Como GP's protocol will be continuously reviewed and updated to reflect any change in the Government's public health orders.
GET TESTED IF YOU HAVE COVID SYMPTOMS:
It is also timely to remind everyone the importance of getting tested if you have any of the following symptoms indicating possible COVID infection:
1) Acute Respiratory Symptoms (shortness of breath or cough or runny nose or sore throat) OR
2) Documented Fever ≥ 37.5 ºC OR
3) Recent history of Fever (night sweats, chills etc) without a known source OR
4) Acute loss of smell or taste
Actions for ANY PATIENT that meets the testing criteria:
1) Patients are NOT permitted to attend Como GP unless they have a proven negative COVID-19 test
2) Patients may be tested via two avenues:
a. Book a Telehealth appointment at Como GP for referral to a private pathology company or
b. Self-present to a COVID testing clinic at FSH, RPH, SCGH, or Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH)
Kind regards,
Como GP
