I don’t know about you, but life has been full lately.
Today was no different — clinic, washing, dinner prep, tidy up, parent-teacher meetings, popping in to see the folks, plus an online masterclass squeezed in somewhere along the way.
From the outside, it could’ve easily been one of those “stressful” days.
But it wasn’t.
And honestly, the reason comes back to how I started the day.
Before the to-do list kicked in, I gave myself something first:
– 20 minutes of meditation
– A weights session at the gym
Did I feel like it? Not really.
I could’ve stayed in bed.
It would’ve been easier to roll over and tell myself I’d do it later.
But I also know this — when I start the day already depleted, everything feels harder.
More reactive. More overwhelming. Less enjoyable.
That small pocket of self-care? It shifted everything.
I felt clearer.
Calmer.
More present in each moment — instead of constantly trying to catch up.
And it doesn’t have to be big or perfect.
Filling your cup can look like:
– Sitting in silence before the house wakes up
– Moving your body, even for 10 minutes
– Stepping outside for fresh air
– Saying no to something that drains you
– Eating a proper meal instead of rushing through the day
– Taking a few deep breaths between tasks
It’s easy to think we’ll take care of ourselves after everything else is done…
but most days, that moment never comes.
So maybe the shift is this:
take a moment to do something for yourself.
Everything begins to feel different when you’re not running on empty
