So often we get stuck trying to fix, fight, or force our way out of old patterns…

Your body isn’t just reacting to stress — it’s constantly managing a Body Budget, a concept from neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett. Your brain allocates energy and emotional capacity moment-to-moment, deciding how much you have to cope, think, and respond.

“Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.” — Susan David

We talk a lot about growth, healing, alignment, becoming our fullest selves…
But the part we often look over, requires some discomfort.

The willingness to sit in the space where things are unfamiliar, where old coping patterns no longer fit and where clarity hasn’t fully arrived yet.

Discomfort can look like:
• Naming what you feel instead of numbing
• Sitting with uncertainty instead of forcing answers
• Letting go of what’s “safe” but not healthy

If you find it hard to relax, adapt, or go with the flow — it’s not that you’re inflexible. It often means your nervous system is operating in a constant state of “on guard.”

When your body doesn’t feel safe, change feels threatening.

You might notice yourself becoming easily overwhelmed, needing control, or tensing up when plans shift unexpectedly.

You can re-train your body to respond differently.

Practices like kinesiology, breathwork, grounding, and gentle movement all help regulate your nervous system — shifting you out of “fight or flight” and into a state where your body feels safe to relax and adapt.
