There are certain things in life that stay with you, even as everything else changes.
For me, music has always been one of them.
I started piano lessons at 7, growing up in the Hills, and spent years playing, learning and sitting AMEB exams. Like many things, it faded into the background as life moved on - career, family, moving homes.
About 12 years ago, I found this 115-year-old German piano on Gumtree. It needed restoring, but it felt too special to pass up. Once it was repaired, music found its way back into my life.
There’s something about sitting at a piano… time disappears, and everything quietens.
Two years ago, we moved into a townhouse with lots of stairs and no space for it, and it went into storage. Every time I saw a piano, I’d think about it sitting there, unused.
So we decided to find it a new home.
You’ll now find it at Perth City Farm, ready for anyone to sit down and play 🎹
At Peace by Piece Art, we believe creativity supports wellbeing. This is a small way of making that accessible - creating moments of connection, expression and calm.
My hope is that someone passing by might pause, play a few notes, and rediscover that feeling 💛
Because access matters.
And sometimes, something as simple as a piano can make a difference.
