Has your partner just given birth? Here's some practical support ideas!

💝 Be the gatekeeper: manage visitors, protect rest time, politely redirect overstayers.

💝 Take charge of meals & hydration: prep snacks, refill water bottles, organise quick lunches.

💝 Night-time support: burp baby, change nappies, resettle, bring baby to breast.

💝 Monitor mum’s recovery: check bleeding, pain levels, emotional wellbeing.

💝 Take on household basics: laundry, dishes, bin runs, bottle cleaning.

💝 Encourage micro-breaks: a 10-minute shower + stretch can reset everything.

💝 Offer emotional validation: no “just relax” statements. Use: “You’re doing amazing.” “This is hard - and temporary.” “I’m here with you.”

𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐩! Change their nappy before a feed, not after.
Most babies relax while feeding… and that’s often when the “surprise” happens. If you change them first, you:

✅ keep them more awake to finish the feed
✅ avoid two changes
✅ and save yourself at least 29 outfit swaps a week!

If they do go mid-feed, you only have to deal with one change, not two.👍

New maternity pick up and drop off bays! 🚗🚙 For your safety and convenience, St John of God Subiaco Hospital have introduced two dedicated five minute bays, exclusively for maternity patients.

You’ll find them at the Salvado Road entrance, near the pedestrian entry.

We are POGS, your obstetrician practice in Subiaco, Mt Lawley, Perth and surrounding suburbs. We promote the wellbeing and dignity of women. We provide the highest quality care in obstetrics and gynaecology in a compassionate and respectful manner.

Our Perth Obstetricians & Gynaecologists practice is made up of our 3 primary obstetricians, 3 midwives and a supportive admin team. Our obstetricians are Dr Ana Perkovic, Dr Pierre Smith and Dr Patrick Wu.

We look forward to being your obstetrician. The team supports each woman and her partner, providing care according to their needs. Pregnancy is as an exciting time for the woman and her partner and our aim is a safe and pleasant experience for her childbirth.
