We are collaborating with Town of Claremont for Seniors Week to deliver a free Gentle Movement Workshop.

Led by our Exercise Physiology Team Leader Manny, this practical, low-impact group session is focused on mobility and confidence.

✅Low-impact exercises (seated or standing)
✅Balance and fall prevention drills
✅Stretching for joint health
✅Safe movement tips for home

This week is Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October), which shines a light on conditions you can't always see - including neurological, cognitive, mental health, chronic, autoimmune, and sensory conditions.

Around 80% of disabilities are invisible. Autism, ADHD and FASD are just some of the many conditions that may not be visible, but can impact daily life.

Typically hyperactivity in childhood decreases in adolescence and adulthood, and instead ADHD adults can struggle with restlessness, lack of focus, and emotional challenges. Awareness starts with understanding the full picture.

Congratulations to Patches employee Farah Warnakulasuriya on receiving the 2025 McCusker Centre for Citizenship Outstanding Intern Award.

Farah, a Master of Information Technology student at UWA, completed her internship at Patches in Semester 1. She helped research and trial the use of virtual reality (VR) goggles in therapy, and has since continued this work in her role as Patches AI Software Engineer in VR Therapy.

“I’m really glad that I have been able to continue my work as an employee at Patches – this is role that is in my field, and I get to do the things I love every day. Since starting with the internship, I’ve felt aligned personally with the work Patches does, and the internship program really set me up to use my skills making a positive difference in the community,” Farah said.

The Outstanding Intern Award recognises students who go above and beyond in their efforts. Congratulations Farah on this well deserved award!

12th - 18th October is National Carers Week, a chance to recognise the essential role carers play in our communities and systems.

This year's theme is 'You are, know, or will be one', highlighting that caring touches all of us at some point in our lives.

Half of all Australian carers experience high or very high psychological distress. Show support for carers in your life this week with small powerful actions, including:
