🎪 Trying something new can be a little scary… but it can also be a whole lot of fun 🎉

With the right support there, it’s so much easier to step outside your comfort zone and just give things a go. This circus visit was all about exactly that… trying something different, having a laugh, and enjoying the experience together 🤹‍♀️

Support isn’t just about helping out day-to-day, it’s about building confidence and opening the door to new experiences. And sometimes, it looks just like this 💫

Today’s BBQ was such a nice way to spend the day! Just people coming together, having a laugh and enjoying being out in the community 🙌💚

These are the kind of moments we love… where participants, families and local providers can hang out, meet new people and build real connections without any pressure 🤗

Thanks so much to everyone who came along and made it what it was! We’re lucky to be part of such a welcoming community 💚

💚☀️ COMMUNITY BBQ & PICNIC NEXT WEEK! 💚☀️

Grab your picnic rugs, invite your friends, and join us for a laid-back, fun day at Seafront Oval, Hervey Bay!

Next Wednesday the 25th, from 11am–2pm, we’ll have the BBQ going 🌭, plenty of cold drinks, and lots of good vibes and laughs to share 😊

🌟Led by Lived Experience 🌟

At My Hero, our social activities aren't designed in a boardroom. They’re participant-led, shaped by real interests, real ideas and real connections 💚

We created a dedicated role within our organisation for a person with disability to lead and develop our social events. A genuine leadership opportunity. A space to plan, create, host and bring people together 🤝😊

That person is Emery.

Since stepping into the role as our events coordinator, Emery has grown in ways we couldn't have imagined. They've gained the confidence to pursue further opportunities and initiatives, including FCRC’s Inclusive Access Advisory Committee, Wide Bay Advocacy Inc EAG and Fraser Coast Advocacy Inclusion Inc working alongside council and local community organisations to advocate for real change across the Fraser Coast

They’ve also led one of the only disability community events in Fraser coast, FestABLE, and continue to be actively involved in advocacy spaces. What began as bringing people together through My Hero social activities has expanded into something much bigger. Emery has become a true pillar in our local community 😁

When people with disabilities are given the space to lead, they don't just participate… they shine and thrive ✨🌿

We’re so proud of what this has become and we encourage other organisations to consider how they can create meaningful leadership pathways within their own teams. Representation matters. Opportunity matters. Inclusion should always include leadership. 💚🙌

🎨 Who said goal-setting has to be boring? 🎨

At the office recently, we got stuck into making vision boards and had so much fun doing it! Between cutting, sticking and getting creative 🎨, we explored what goals we’d like to work towards this year ahead and what steps we can take to make them happen 😊

Goal setting doesn't have to feel serious or overwhelming, sometimes the best way to start is by getting creative, sharing ideas and having a few laughs along the way. 😄✨

It was the perfect mix of dreams, smiles and planning for the future… all while letting creativity lead the way! 🎨💫

Who said goal setting can’t be fun? 🙌

💚Nothing beats coming together as a community 💚

Today’s BBQ was a beautiful reminder of why community connection and initiatives matter 🤗👏

We love creating opportunities where participants, families and other local disability providers can meet in a relaxed environment that fosters genuine connections 💚🙏

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the providers who continue to collaborate and support inclusive spaces alongside us! Were proud to be part of such a connected and supportive community 🙌🤗

✨Proof that it’s never too late to try again ✨

Recently we headed to the beautiful Rainbow Beach for a day trip ☀️ And one of our incredible clients living with multiple sclerosis (MS) did something truly special… she went into the ocean for the first time in over 13 years 🌊

For her, walking into that water meant more than anyone else could see. It was about saying “I can” after years of “maybe not” and showing herself that her MS doesn’t get to decide what she can and can’t experience 🙏🏻

She hopes her experience inspires others living with MS to give things a go, even if it feels scary, even if it’s been a long time and even if you’re unsure. You never know what beautiful moments are waiting on the other side of “I’ll try” 😊

We’re so proud to support moments like these 💚🤍

🏖️☀️ A day we’ll be talking about for a while 🌊💚

Last Friday our Heroes headed off to Rainbow Beach for a social outing adventure 😊🙌🏻

This wasn’t just a typical “group activity”, it was genuine connections, confidence building and friendships forming naturally 🌊🤍 For some, it was even their very first time experiencing the beach with others and exploring together 😊

We were also lucky to have some of the team from Planet Support Services join us for the day, adding to the fun, support and great energy that made the outing so special 🤍

Watching everyone support each other, try new things and simply enjoy being together was pretty special. Days like this really highlight how powerful shared experiences can be 💪🏻

✨ Making the most of short stays!! ✨

Our recent Short Term Accommodation stay in Brisbane was all about building independence, confidence and community participation 💚🙌🏻

Through supported travel, exploring new environments and maintaining daily routines away from home, the participant was able to develop important life skills while enjoying a change of scenery in a safe and supported way 🌆☀️

STA/STR offers more than just a break. When done well, it’s an opportunity for growth, learning and genuine empowerment 💚
