Mater Mothers’ Hospitals have joined hands with the Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence in reducing stillbirth rates in Australia by 20% over the next three years. The launch of the new Safer Baby Bundle initiative is a collection of change ideas.

“There are five elements that women and their healthcare team can work through together, to reduce the risk after the 28th week of pregnancy,” said Manager of Parent Education and Support Services, Kathleen Goldsmith. Find out more here.

Stillbirth affects more than 2,000 Australian families each year (six babies lost each day), yet many stillbirths are preventable.

⚠️ Important Update from Queensland Health

Updated information: From 1am Monday 4 January, anyone who has been in Victoria on or since 21 December will be restricted from entering vulnerable facilities, including aged care facilities, hospitals, disability accommodation and correctional facilities.

While Queensland’s borders remain unchanged, anyone currently in Queensland who has been in Victoria on or since 21 December should get tested immediately and quarantine at home or their accommodation until they receive a negative result.

We are closely monitoring the situation in New South Wales and Victoria and urge Queenslanders to reconsider non-essential travel to these states as it is an evolving situation.

📌 If you do decide to go to Victoria or New South Wales, you need to be aware of the potential consequences, such as border changes and not making it home to Queensland before hotel quarantine is imposed.

📌 If you’re already in Victoria or New South Wales, consider coming home.
