This is John’s story.
Since joining Arcare, his life has improved in ways he never expected. His message to new residents is simple: give yourself time and stay open to connection. 💜
If his story encourages you, pass it on. ✉️🥺
It’s 1 December 2025, and we’re grateful to everyone who has followed our stories and milestones online. This time of year naturally invites reflection, offering a moment to pause and appreciate the journey so far.
Connection is essential at every stage of life. Our new short documentary, Living Connected, shares the stories of residents, families and team members who show how genuine friendship can support wellbeing, ease loneliness and help people feel truly at home.
Through everyday moments of kindness, companionship and shared experience, the documentary highlights the impact that community can have in aged care.
We invite you to watch Living Connected and see how relationships shape life inside our Arcare communities.
After meeting 25 years ago, their story has been shaped by travel, motorbikes, shared humour and a connection that has only strengthened with time. Earlier this year, Roger proposed, explaining that it felt right to honour the life they had built together.
Their wedding took place at Arcare Noosa in a warm, intimate ceremony surrounded by family, friends and our community. With support from the Arcare Noosa team, the day reflected who they are and the love they continue to share.
A wholesome reminder that life keeps offering new moments, no matter your age, and that love continues to grow in its own way.
A memorable morning yesterday at Arcare Aged Care Springwood as John and Sheila opened our new extension with a ribbon cutting ceremony, joined by Jean and her daughter, and our team, for a relaxed morning tea and warm welcome.
With 65 premium suites, inviting outdoor areas and the QLD head office onsite, the extension is now open and ready to welcome more families. A special thank you to the team and the local community for your support. 🏠💜
Visit us at our Open Day on Saturday 29 November 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm via the Briggs Rd entrance. Drop by anytime to tour the extension, talk to our team and enjoy a coffee at the Café63 onsite. https://arcare.com.au/residence-location/springwood/

The Arcare Aged Care Springwood extension has officially opened its doors yesterday and we’re excited to welcome our newest residents Jean, John and Sheila, along with their families, into the Arcare community.
Featuring 65 new premium suites and outdoor spaces designed for connection, including a family barbecue area and a children’s play space, Springwood is ready to support more families in the region.
A new chapter in Melbourne’s south east begins today with Arcare Aged Care Clyde. Our ribbon cutting ceremony welcomed Stan, the first resident and his family, marking a meaningful start for our 59th aged care residence across Australia.
Arcare Clyde offers 110 premium suites and a range of contemporary shared spaces designed to support comfort, wellbeing and daily connection. Guided by our Relationship First Approach, the residence is ready to provide a tailored and considered experience for all residents.
Thank you to the local community for your interest and for joining us at our Industry Day and Open Day last week. We look forward to growing this new community together as Arcare Clyde continues to write its story with the people who call it home.
“Not for praise. Not for recognition. Just because she can.” 💛
Meet Angela, an Irish resident at Arcare Ringwood in Melbourne's eastern suburbs who spends her days knitting squares that become blankets for charity.

John, Russell and Graham Knowles met Ian Ball in the 1960s while sub-contracting together on church-funded retirement villages. In 1976 they built their first retirement village together, The Frankston Baptist Centre, on the outskirts of Frankston in Victoria. In 2007, their company, Australian Retirement Communities (ARC), was the largest private retirement village operator in Australia with 22 villages and 3000 + units across Victoria and Queensland.
ARCare was established as the aged care arm of ARC in 1997, building their first aged care residence in Reservoir, Victoria.
Co-located with ARC’s LaTrobe Retirement Village, ARCare Latrobe (now known as Arcare Reservoir) in Reservoir is a 58 bed low care residence. In 2007 ARC sold their retirement village portfolio to Stockland. From then on, ARCare became known as Arcare, and thus began a new era in aged care.
Arcare now own and operate 39 aged care residences across Melbourne, New South Wales and Queensland, and provide services in the home.
In 2015 our unique Dedicated Staff Assignment won a Federal Government Better Practice Award.
