We welcome Dave to Pimpama Family Medical Centre, our onsite Physiotherapist.

David Cvelbar is an accomplished physiotherapist renowned for his dedication to patient pain relief and well-being. He earned his Bachelor of Exercise Science and Master of Physiotherapy from Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2018. Since graduating, he has focused his career in private practice, establishing himself as a trusted clinician in the field.

For five years, David owned and operated Physique Physiotherapy on Tamborine Mountain, a premier clinic boasting over 100 years of collective experience and expertise in nearly every physiotherapy specialization. His reputation for excellence led to appointment wait times of 2–4 weeks, a testament to the confidence patients placed in his care. In 2023, he sold the clinic and transitioned to practicing as a solo clinician in medical centers. This move was driven by his commitment to a more holistic approach, integrating physiotherapy with the broader medical team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes through collaborative, multidisciplinary care.

David is sought after for his specialized skills in managing acute back, neck, and shoulder pain, treating osteoarthritis, and addressing headaches and migraines. His extensive experience also spans sporting injuries, neurological rehabilitation, falls prevention, and post-operative recovery, enabling him to support a diverse range of patients in achieving their functional goals. Pimpama Family Medical Practice has received the flu vaccinations for ages 6 months to 64 years of age. The National Immunisation Program (NIP) provides free influenza vaccines to people most at risk of complications from influenza. Influenza vaccines can be administered on the same day as any COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr Hossein Khosravi is a highly qualified Dietitian with more than 20 years working experience in different fields such as universities, institutes and clinics. He is currently working at a number of clinics across Gold Coast.
As an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD), Dr Hossein provides scientific and evidence-based nutrition intervention and support to patients for a range of nutrition related conditions.
His fields of interest are broad, and include:
• Healthy eating
• Overweight and obesity
• Diabetes
• Cardiovascular disease
• Gastrointestinal disorders
• Fatty liver
• food allergy and intolerance
• nutritional deficiencies/malnutrition
• polycystic ovarian syndrome

A consultation with Dr Hossein generally starts with a diet and lifestyle assessment, and based on this assessment, dietary recommendations, education and counseling are provided. Dietary counseling includes goal setting and advice on how to reach these goals. The aim is to provide clients with the skills and knowledge to self-manage their health – both through prevention and treatment of disease – through nutrition, diet and other lifestyle modifications. Follow up appointments assess progress and provide further education and support as required.
If you have a chronic medical condition you may be eligible for Medicare benefits to visit Dr Hossein (Check with your GP). Most private health funds also provide rebates for visits to APDs (dependent on the level of cover).

NEW ALLIED HEALTH SERVICE: PODIATRY
Sam Bull from Pathway Podiatry Services is joining our team. Sam will commence mid July 2023. Referrals from other practices are welcome. Appointments can be made via email to pathwaypodiatry@westnet.com.au or by calling 0490839283.

Sam graduated from CQ University with a Bachelor of Podiatry
Practice with honours. He is a member of the Australian
Podiatry Association. Sam currently manages a successful
podiatry practice in Central Queensland and has recently
moved to the Gold Coast to be closer to family.
Sam has extensive experience in all facets of podiatry with a
special interest in diabetic related foot conditions. Sam has
undertaken many post graduate studies some which include
dry needling for musculoskeletal conditions and low pulse
laser treatment in the reduction of pain and inflammation with
a stimulatory effect on the lymphatic and circulatory systems.
For many years, Sam has coached and played both basketball
and golf. In his spare time Sam enjoys spending time with his
family and exploring the great outdoors.

Note that Pimpama Family Medical Practice is a mixed billing practice. Our practice understands your frustration in this change but unfortunately Bulk Billing is no longer sustainable for General Practices. We charge a small fee payable on the day of your appointment and will process your Medicare rebate if eligible that will be paid directly to your bank account linked to your debit card or registered with Medicare.
Pension/Concession and Healthcare card holders, children under the age of 16, DVA and ATSI patients registered with our practice will be bulk billed. Please note that weekend fees will apply to patients holding a Pension/Concession and Healthcare card.
