The TheraRide 3-Degree Wedge Pads are made from hard-wearing TPU and are designed to provide targeted support during rehabilitation and corrective trimming.

These pads help reduce concussion to the hoof capsule through their shock-absorbing properties and assist in raising the heels, particularly useful for addressing underrun heels. They may also support tendon relief as part of a rehabilitation plan for certain hoof conditions.

Important: These are compatible only with the Scootboot TheraRide model.

Should the back of your saddle move when you ride?

This is among the most debated questions in saddle fit and it’s tricky to answer, because...

✅ Yes, we want a little movement
BUT
❌ No, we don’t want too much

Many riders assume that a moving cantle or a slightly curved back means the saddle doesn’t fit.

But there’s actually a purpose behind this design. A saddle’s weight-bearing surface on the horse’s ribcage is mostly flat, while the tree usually has a slight arc to allow the shoulders, moving up to 6–8 inches up and back, to engage freely.

The back of the saddle should have a subtle “swing,” letting the horse lift its spine without interference, while the panel padding at the pommel and cantle provides cushioning but still maintains contact across the entire back.

Some manufacturers try to straighten the tree completely to prevent rocking, but research using thermography, fiber-optic photography, and other advanced tools shows that a perfectly flat saddle can actually restrict movement, create friction, and even cause soreness.

The goal is a little movement under the cantle to let your horse lift its back, without rocking side-to-side or creating gaps between the panels and the horse.

Fitting a saddle is all about balance, allowing freedom while keeping stability, this is challenging for your saddle fitter to achieve, allowing the saddle to slightly rock, without becoming a teeter totter hitting you in the behind (and your horse in the back) when you trot.
