What’s the plan for the weekend? We heard the surf is UP! 🏄‍♂️

Just because it’s the Ironmind gym doesn’t mean we have to stay inside. We’re all about movement — and that can mean anything from walking the dog, hitting the trails or chasing waves hanging 10!

This weekend, we’re taking the good vibes outdoors and making the most of it.

Wherever you move, move your way.

See you in the surf 🤙

Woo Hoo SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!
So now that facebook is almost kid free...... What's everyone doing with their kids during the holidays? Keeping them active? indoors? Outdoors? Would love some ideas that don't include screens :)

I was going to wait till tomorrow but why not now? 😃

Start today?

I've been doing some updates on the quote board.....

Simple one this time:

It’s not there to push anyone or tell anyone how they should be thinking. In fact, I think “I can’t” is a really honest place a lot of people land. Sometimes it’s overwhelm, sometimes it’s anxiety, sometimes it’s just where your head is at in that moment. And that’s okay.

This is just something to sit alongside it.

Over the start of April, if you catch yourself saying “I can’t,” there’s no pressure to change it. Just pause for a moment and check in with yourself.

Is it a firm no today?
Or is there even the smallest version of it that feels a bit more possible?

Sometimes nothing changes, and that’s fine.
Other times it might soften into:
“I might be able to”
“I can try a small step”
“I can do this my way”

No pressure, no forcing it. Just space to explore what’s actually there.

On my end, I’ve been riding my bike to work to cut the fuel costs. My legs are sore, my butt is sore, and there are definitely mornings where I’m halfway there thinking, I can’t be bothered, I can’t do this.

But I’ve had to be pretty honest with myself and go… actually, I can.
Not because I feel amazing. Not because it’s easy. But because deep down, I know I CAN.

I think that’s what strength looks like sometimes. Not loud, not perfect… just a bit of courage, a bit of persistence, and that quiet decision to say, I can.

The start of April is the month to try little new things. No pressure, just curiosity. You never know, you might find something you actually love.

Who’s with me?

Kickboxing.....

Alright… strap in for this one 😅
This is a long one.

You know when you've got something stuck in your head and need to get it out… yeah…?

So stick with me......

Have you ever thought about giving kickboxing a go? 🥊

So… honest take from me (Glenn, the guy currently riding his bike everywhere to save on fuel 😅)… I’m actually not a fan.

I’ve tried it. A few times. And for whatever reason… it just doesn’t click with me. I can’t even explain why.

BUT this isn’t about me.........

This is about what I’ve seen.

I’ve been around Ironmind for a few years now — properly immersed the last couple — and I’ve watched a lot of sessions. A LOT. And kickboxing is one that stands out every single time.

Because even though I don’t “get it”… I can see that it works.

There’s something about it:
The force.
The rhythm.
The focus.
The intensity.
The empowerment.

People don’t just do it… they transform. I'm actually jealous that I don't get this!

And here’s where it really blows me away — the mental side of it. Kickboxing isn’t just hitting pads and moving your body. It’s movement that clears your mind. The rhythm and intensity demand focus, so your head stops spinning with stress, worries, or overthinking. People come in anxious, tense, flat… and leave sharper, calmer, more present. That’s why we call it Movement for Mental Health — it literally resets your nervous system and mood while building strength, balance, and coordination.

And one of the biggest things I’ve seen?

Stroke rehab.
I’ve watched clients rebuilding connection between brain and body — literally retraining movement patterns. Kickboxing forces coordination. Timing. Reaction. Balance. It demands both sides of the body to work together. It builds neural pathways again through repetition and intent.

It’s not just “fitness” … it’s neurological work.

And when that starts to click — you see confidence come back. Independence improves. Mental health lifts. Daily life gets easier.

I walked into a session recently — the intensity was unreal. Pads cracking, movement sharp, energy high.

But the craziest part?

If I didn’t already know who was who… I honestly couldn’t tell you who the trainer was and who the client was.

That’s how far people can come.

Then you flip the coin…
I’ve seen people walk in anxious, flat, unsure. Quiet.
They warm up… ease in…
Then the gloves go on.

And it’s like a switch flips.
Full Rocky mode activated!

Everything else disappears for that moment. Just movement, focus, power.

That’s why I love kickboxing.
Not because I enjoy doing it…
But because I’ve seen what it does to people.

And yeah… part of me wishes it did the same for me.
But hey — we’re not all wired the same.

(Throw me on a water slide and I’m living my best life 😂)

So what’s the point of this post?

Try things.
Find what clicks for YOU.
And when you find it — back it, build it, keep showing up.
Because that’s where the magic is.

Oh — and yeah… Ironmind offers kickboxing as part of our Movement for Mental Health sessions.
(Almost forgot the actual point 😅)

Hmm… I probably could’ve just said
“Kickboxing is good for you… keen?” 😂

But nah… that’s not my style.

Love it or leave it.

Wanna give kickboxing a go?
I know a trainer or two 😏 Mat for one, is ready with the pads on! Me… I’ll take the photo!

Fuel prices need no introduction at the moment and I'm sure we all feel the same way........ so I’ve ditched the car and jumped on the bike 🚲

My legs are feeling it…
and my butt bones are honestly not okay right now 😂 you can see the pain on my face! Half trying to smile in distress! HAHA

If the fuel situation is making things harder — getting to sessions, managing costs, or just adding stress — reach out.

Even if it’s just for a chat.

We can look at different options…
carpooling, public transport, walking, adjusting times — whatever works for you right now.

Also — what’s everyone else doing to save on costs at the moment?
Always keen to hear ideas and help each other out.

ps - What do I do when I get a flat tire!

It sure is getting hot!!!
And unless you are this guy or gal I suggest you stay out of the sun the for the next few days! Temperatures hitting 40deg plus.
Drink more water, get your outside chores done early and stay in the shade for the rest of the day.
If you dont have air con, keep the house closed up and the blinds down until the cool night air arrives.
Good day to go to the big shopping centres for some free air con or maybe a library or museum. 🤔

Got a cool 😎 idea to beat the heat?

Dancing!!!
Yes that's right, its time to get your groove on!
Its 'Movement Monday'!
Oh look its Eve!!! Eve has been with Ironmind for several years now. As you can see she's been busy lately...... But she back!
Today is not 'meet the trainer' day, so well revisit a little more about Eve at another time. Today is all about adding a Movement to your Mental health kit!.
We're keeping it fun today! Lets Dance!
Dancing gets the blood flowing, it will boost your mood by releasing feel-good endorphins helping to reducing stress and it enhances cognitive function. Most it all, its fun.
Me, I prefer to dance alone! But dancing can be done anywhere anytime, put on your favorite disco beats and shake that thing! Anyone game enough to share a snippet?
Perhaps you like going to the club, what a great social activity! Join a class and learn some new moves! The options are almost endless.

How about...... It kind of looks like it might rain today! Anyone up for dancing in the rain?
