I rated Sarah’s breakfast and honestly? I was impressed.
Quick, easy, and actually really well thought out for where she’s at right now. Here’s my take:
Good protein hit to start the day Broccoli sprout powder an antioxidant powerhouse and genuinely one of the best things you can add for detoxification support
MCT oil for clean, sustained energy, especially important when you’re busy and can’t afford an afternoon slump
What I love most is that it works for her life. It’s not complicated. It’s not time-consuming. It’s just smart fuelling for a post-menopausal woman who’s running a business and needs her body to keep up.
What is your go to breakfast?

Two women. Two completely different breakfasts. Two very different bodies, hormones, and lives and that’s exactly the point.
Ava is in her peak hormonal and fertility years, training hard and fuelling accordingly. I’m navigating post-menopause, working long hours, and honestly? My body has completely different needs right now.
We’re rating each other’s breakfasts and what looks “wrong” for one of us might be absolutely right for the other.
This is the first in our series where we get real about how food, hormones, and life stage actually shape what we eat and why. Because there’s no one-size-fits-all plate.
Stay tuned for the review of Sarah’s breakfast.

🕯️ Scented candles & air fresheners That “fresh linen” scent? It’s often a cocktail of synthetic chemicals including phthalates and formaldehyde. These disrupt your hormones and irritate your respiratory system every time you breathe them in. Try: essential oil diffusers, beeswax candles, or simply opening a window.
🍳 Non-stick cookware Non-stick coatings release toxic fumes when heated — especially at high temperatures. These “forever chemicals” (PFAS) accumulate in your body and don’t break down easily. Try: cast iron, stainless steel, or ceramic cookware.
🧴 Personal care products Your skin is your largest organ and absorbs what you put on it. Many mainstream products contain parabens, SLS, and synthetic fragrances that add to your daily toxic load.
Slide 5: 🚰 Unfiltered tap water Australian tap water can contain chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals, and traces of pesticides. You’re drinking, cooking, and showering in it daily. Try: a quality benchtop or under-sink water filter.
🧹 Cleaning products Conventional sprays, bleaches, and surface cleaners release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into your air. If you can smell it strongly, you’re breathing in chemicals. Try: simple swaps like vinegar, bicarb, castile soap.

If you’re experiencing unexplained symptoms — fatigue, brain fog, hormonal issues, skin reactions, your environment could be a missing piece of the puzzle.

Here are 5 things you can start doing today to reduce toxic overload and support your body’s natural detox pathways
1. Sweat it out — sauna therapy One of the most effective ways to move toxins out of your body is through sweat. Regular sauna sessions support circulation, reduce inflammation, and help your body release stored toxins.
2. Love your liver with bitter foods Your liver is your detox powerhouse — and it thrives on bitter foods. Think dandelion greens, rocket, lemon, broccoli, and kale. Adding a handful of bitters to your daily meals gives your liver the support it needs to process and eliminate toxins more efficiently.
3. Reduce what’s coming IN, Detox isn’t just about what you remove — it’s about what you stop adding. Start small: swap to natural cleaning products, filter your drinking water, and check your personal care products for hidden chemicals.
4. Support your gut with binders When your body mobilises toxins, they need somewhere to go. Binders like activated charcoal, bentonite clay, or practitioner-grade options help “catch” toxins in your gut and carry them out. This is especially important if you’re dealing with mould exposure. Always work with a practitioner to get the right binder and dose for you.
5. Move your body daily Movement isn’t just for fitness — it’s essential for detoxification. Walking, rebounding, yoga, even stretching supports your lymphatic system, which is responsible for clearing waste from your tissues.

You fixed the mould. So why do you still feel terrible?
Mycotoxins – the toxins mould produces – are fat-soluble. That means they don’t just wash out of your system. They store in your body and can linger for a long time after the mould source is gone.
To recover, your body needs support in three key areas: detoxification, reducing inflammation, and improving lymphatic flow.
Here are some natural ways to support this.
🌿 1. Natural binders
Because mycotoxins are fat-soluble, your body needs help grabbing onto them and moving them out. Natural binders do exactly that – they attach to the toxins so your body can actually eliminate them rather than recirculating them.
🌿 2. Poke root
One of nature’s most powerful lymphatic herbs. Your lymphatic system is responsible for carrying a huge amount of your body’s waste, and after mould exposure it often needs extra support to keep things moving. Poke root is an amazing herb for getting that lymph flowing again.
🌿 3. Globe artichoke
Your liver is your body’s number one detoxification organ. If it’s sluggish, those mycotoxins aren’t going anywhere. Globe artichoke provides powerful liver support, helping your body’s main detox pathway work the way it should.
🌿 4. Clove
Mould exposure can leave behind lingering inflammatory and fungal infections in the body. Clove has both anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, making it a brilliant herb for tackling both of these issues at once.
Recovery looks different for everyone. What works depends on your unique biology, how long you were exposed, and how well your detox pathways are functioning.
The good news? Your body has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right tools.

As we come into peak mould season here in Queensland it’s appropriate to ask whether your symptoms may be from consistent mould exposure. The symptoms can look like a dozen of other things like chronic fatigue, allergies or stress that’s why it is common to be missed. The thing is mould doesn’t just affect our lungs. Mycotoxins (the toxin mould releases) can trigger an inflammation response effecting your brain, skin and mood.
Start by checking your home, in your bedroom, bathroom or anywhere that’s damp, but remember mould isn’t always visible!

Can't seem to break that habit no matter how hard you try? It might not be a willpower problem.
Here's what's actually going on.
When you're stressed, your body goes into survival mode. Your nervous system is focused on getting you through the day, not making healthy long-term choices.
So, you reach for the sugar, the wine, the scrolling, the skipping workouts. Not because you're weak. Because your brain is looking for the fastest way to feel safe.
That habit you keep falling back into. It's a coping mechanism. It's your nervous system trying to regulate itself.
So instead of fighting yourself, ask: what's driving the stress? What does my body actually need right now?
Sometimes breaking a bad habit starts with addressing what's underneath.
What habit do you notice gets worse when you're stressed?

If you have been thinking of seeing a Naturopath or Nutritionist to support you and your health goals. Here is your SIGN 🌸

When you’re sleep deprived, your brain changes how it makes decisions.
Your prefrontal cortex the part responsible for willpower, logic, and good judgment, goes offline. Meanwhile, the emotional, impulsive part of your brain takes over.
So you crave sugar for quick energy. You skip the workout. You say yes to things you’d normally say no to. You reach for whatever feels easy.
It’s not a lack of discipline. It’s biology.
This is why sleep is one of the most important foundations of breaking bad habits. When you’re well rested, you have the mental capacity to make choices that align with your goals.
If you’re trying to change your habits but running on five hours of sleep... start there.
You can’t outwork a tired brain. 🧠
