An exciting community consultation is now open for your feedback and it's focused on the draft Port Augusta CBD Masterplan.
This Masterplan is a long-term guide for how our Central Business District could grow and change over the next 20 years. It looks at practical ways to support local businesses, attract new investment and make better use of our streets, parks and public spaces.
At its heart, the Masterplan is about creating a busy, connected town centre — a place that brings together shops, services, jobs, education, recreation and community spaces. Our goal is simple: a CBD that is vibrant, welcoming and easy to get around for both locals and visitors.
The plan also focuses on strengthening our shopping and business areas, improving the look and feel of the CBD in line with the Port Augusta Style Guide, and unlocking the potential of key sites across the city centre. Importantly, it aligns with the Far North Regional Plan and supports Port Augusta’s role as the regional centre for our wider community.
Most importantly, we want to hear from you. Your feedback will help shape the final plan and ensure it reflects local ideas, needs and priorities.
I encourage everyone to review the draft Masterplan and share their thoughts.
You can get involved in person at one of the following sessions:
• 17 February — Coles Shopping Centre, 3.30pm to 6.00pm
• 18 February — Yarta Purtli Cultural Centre, 6 Beauchamp Lane, 3.30pm to 6.30pm
• 19 February — Woolworths, Port Augusta, 10.00am to 12.30pm
Or you can view the plan online and complete the online survey. Hard copies are also available to collect in the Civic Centre foyer.
Something else that is exciting is welcoming the Adelaide Crows to Port Augusta! Locals have the opportunity to take part in open training, clinics and school visits.
The visit includes school sessions delivering the Club’s STEM Footy program, leadership workshops for local school leaders and a junior football clinic.
A junior football clinic will be held at Central Oval on Thursday 12 February from 4.30pm, followed by an open training session at 5.30pm.
The visit wraps up on Friday 13 February with an internal trial match at Central Oval from 4.00pm to 6.15pm, followed by a player signing session, which the public is welcome to attend.
Registrations are required for clinics and can be made at www.afc.com.au or by googling Crows Port Augusta.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community — especially young football fans — to get involved and build excitement ahead of the AFL season.

Port Augusta City Council is inviting the community to have their say on the draft Stormwater Management Plan (SMP). The SMP is a long-term plan that guides how stormwater is managed across the city. It focuses on reducing flood risk, improving water quality, and helping to create safer, cleaner and more liveable neighbourhoods now and into the future.
Why has the Stormwater Management Plan been prepared?
The draft plan has been developed to:
👉Improve our understanding of stormwater and flood risks across Port Augusta
👉Guide future decision-making to better manage flooding, protect the environment and build resilience to climate change
The plan has been prepared by Port Augusta City Council in partnership with the Stormwater Management Authority, with support from specialist consultants Southfront.
Through community consultation in 2025, 23 priority areas were identified for stormwater and flooding issues across the city.
We now want to hear from you — have we missed any areas or issues that should be included in the priority planning?
How to have your say
You can provide feedback in several ways:
Submissions close: Friday 27 February 2026 at 5:00pm.
Your feedback is important and will help shape how stormwater is managed in Port Augusta into the future.

🌟 Good news, Port Augusta! 🌟
Our community showed just how powerful coming together can be during the 2025 Garage Sale Trail — and the results are something to be proud of.
The Garage Sale Trail impact report for our town showed that over two big weekends, 3,700+ local residents took part as sellers and shoppers, helping 11,600+ items find a new home instead of heading to landfill. Around 35% of those items would otherwise have been thrown away, making a real difference for our environment .♻️
Just as importantly, the event delivered real cost-of-living relief. Local households, community groups and charities made over $109,000, while shoppers saved an estimated $154,000 by buying second-hand instead of new. 💰
Beyond the dollars and data, many residents told us they loved meeting neighbours, having a chat, and feeling more connected to their community — some for the very first time.
A huge thank you to everyone who hosted a sale, went bargain hunting, or helped spread the word!
