Do you experience excessive lordosis and/or increased flaring of your ribs? The way you are activating your core may have something to do with this!
Just to clarify, there is no correct posture but often with people who have posture similar to the picture on the right, they present typically with lower back pain and inability to connect with their deep core (transversus abdominus or TA muscle)

If you are finding it hard to engage in the first place, find the bones in front of your hip and let out a little cough. The muscle that comes up is your TA muscle which is the one you are wanting to activate.
Practice makes perfect with this exercise and don’t forget to keep breathing!
