It’s feedback like this that reminds us how important the small things are - a friendly face at the front desk, a clear explanation, and feeling genuinely cared for.

Thank you for the kind words, we’re so glad your visit felt welcoming and supportive.

When it comes to breast cancer, early detection and proactive care can make all the difference.

Preventative care isn’t just about screenings, it includes understanding your risk factors, checking in with your body, and having conversations with your GP about what’s right for you.

At Port GPs, we’re here to support women with personalised, evidence-based guidance on breast care and long-term health.

Knowing what to look for and when to act can make a real difference when it comes to breast health.

Here are some of the most common questions about breast cancer screening, early signs to watch for, and how family history can play a role, that we get asked at Port GPs.

If you’ve ever wondered when to start getting mammograms, what changes to be aware of, or whether your family history matters, this is a great place to start.

And if something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Talk to your GP. Early action saves lives.

👋 Say hello to Dr Elizabeth - one of the independent GPs practising here at Port GPs.

Originally from the Central West, Dr Elizabeth made her way to Port Macquarie after studying in Sydney, and hasn’t looked back since.

She has a special interest in women’s and children’s health, and brings a thoughtful, compassionate approach to her work. Whether it’s supporting new mums, managing childhood health concerns, or offering personalised care through all stages of life, Dr Elizabeth is passionate about helping patients feel heard, informed, and supported.

When she’s not in consult, you’ll usually find her with her young family - though she does admit she used to enjoy reading, walking, knitting, and crochet (before life got a little busier!).

We're lucky to have her as part of the Port GPs community.

We know that feeling comfortable with your GP makes all the difference, especially when it comes to opening up about your health.

If you prefer to see a male doctor, Port GPs has several experienced male GPs available across our practice. Whether it's for a routine check-up, a longer-term health concern, or something more personal, you’re welcome to let us know your preference when booking.

Our reception team is here to help match you with the right doctor for your needs, and we’ll always do our best to make sure your visit feels comfortable and supported.

Because your care, your comfort, and your confidence all matter.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support early detection, and stand with those affected by breast cancer.

Routine screening can save lives. If you’re aged 50–74, regular mammograms are recommended every two years, but if you’re younger and have a family history or concerns, it’s worth having a conversation with your GP.

Early detection gives the best chance of successful treatment. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and book a check-up. At Port GPs, we offer a wide range of services to support your breast health so if you have concerns or are due for a check up, get in touch with us today.
