Back with Part 2 of Tools to Help with Painful In*******se!!

💜 Remember, this is often a layered issue, meaning we usually need multiple tools to help manage it.

💜 Physical tools, like a pelvic wand, can be a game changer is relieving chronic pelvic muscle tenderness. Also check out for more fantastic tools like the Ohnut!

💜 Don’t underestimate the power of open communication 🗣️ if pain is occurring with partnered activities, we have to let them in on exactly what is happening to help empower them to be a part of the solution.

‼️ Don’t panic ‼️
A lot of women see their v***a in late pregnancy and get worried when they see it looks swollen, puffy or simply larger than it used to, but rest assured these changes are common and normal!
Why does it happen?
- Increased blood flow/volume
- Pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue begin to stretch in preparation for birth
- Pressure from the foetus on blood vessels causing swelling

📣 You are more than just your pelvic floor! 📣

A quality treatment program for your pelvic floor should include an assessment of the mobility and stability of all the pieces adjacent to your pelvic floor e.g. spine, hips, feet…the list goes on!🦵

More often than not, we’ll find that some homework is needed 🥰 to give TLC to these other important areas that help with pelvic floor function. Remember, pelvic floor simply doesn’t exist and work in isolation!

A thorough treatment program should look at the entire person🧍‍♀️ and not just your pelvic floor! 💥

As you may have seen, this week is Women’s Health Week and the theme is “say yes to you”.

From self care to health care - this is your reminder to prioritise your own wellbeing!

We so often see how many women prioritise the needs of others over their own. It’s time this changes because when women thrive, everyone around them benefits.

Take this as your reminder to take a break and do something that brings you joy, book that health check you’ve been putting off or simply be kind to yourself!

At Empower Physio for Women, we are here to encourage you to “say yes to you” all year round!
