Today we’re celebrating International Women’s Day by recognising the incredible women who help shape and support our community.

A special shoutout to all of the women in the Women in Business feature in our local Focus Magazine, which highlights Sophie Rourke and Melinda Dalton , pharmacists and owners of Flynn’s Beach Pharmacy.

Their vision has always been simple — healthcare should be personal, supportive and community-focused. From caring for local families to supporting residents in aged care facilities across our region, their passion has always been about improving safety, dignity and quality of life for the people we serve.

While this article celebrates their leadership, it also reflects the strength of the entire team behind them. Every day, an amazing group of dedicated women across our pharmacies work together to ensure our community and residents in the aged care facilities we support continue to receive safe, reliable and compassionate care.

Today we celebrate the many strong women in our team, in healthcare and in our community who lead, support and inspire every day.

Owners and Aged Care On-Site Pharmacists (ACOPs) Sophie and Melinda were proud to attend the Inaugural Aged Care Pharmacist Summit in the Hunter Valley — connecting with like-minded pharmacists and industry leaders who are passionate about improving medication safety and outcomes for older Australians.

These events aren’t only educational, they’re about meaningful networking, sharing real-world solutions, and bringing best-practice aged care strategies back to the facilities and residents we support every day — including our wonderful partners at Garden Village Port Macquarie St Agnes' Care & Lifestyle, Emmaus Village Port Macquarie, Highfields Manor, Laurieton Lakeside Aged Care Residence, Lake Cathie Manor Hall & Prior Aged Care NSW

We even made the trip sustainably in our electric car — because caring for our community also means caring for our environment 🌱

And yes… a quick visit to to support local while we were there 🥂

💙 Ovarian Cancer Awareness 💙

Ovarian cancer is often called the silent disease because symptoms can be vague and easily overlooked. Knowing the signs and acting early can make a difference.

Be aware of symptoms such as:
• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite
• Urinary urgency or frequency

If symptoms are new, frequent, or persistent, it’s important to see your GP.

Our pharmacy supports awareness and education alongside organisations like Ovarian Cancer Australia.
