Today on World Cerebral Palsy Day, I find myself reflecting on the many children, families, friends and my own loved ones who have shaped my journey and the deep gratitude I feel for the lessons they’ve shared.
From attending an inclusive primary school that normalised different ways of moving, to teaching swimming to children with physical disabilities as a teen, these early experiences didn’t just spark my interest in occupational therapy; they helped form my values.
I’ve had the privilege of supporting countless kids with CP over the years, each with their own brilliant ways of adapting to a world that often isn’t built with them in mind. I’ve learned to be curious about movement, fascinated by brain-body connections, and humbled by the creative ways children find to engage, participate, and thrive.
This work is never about changing a child and fixing. It’s about recognising strengths, promoting opportunities, removing barriers, and creating communities where everyone belongs. For too long, people have made presumptions about disability and underestimated potential. It’s time to shift that narrative.
At All Together Therapy, we’re committed to walking alongside families, advocating for accessibility, and building a world where disabled children are not just included — but genuinely supported to flourish! 💚
