Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common causes of joint pain — but it doesn’t happen overnight. Knowing the 4 stages can help you recognize symptoms early and manage them effectively.
🔹 Stage 1 – Minor:
Small wear-and-tear in the joints. You may not feel pain yet, but the cartilage starts to thin.
🔹 Stage 2 – Mild:
Occasional stiffness or discomfort, especially after activity. X-rays may show slight bone changes.
🔹 Stage 3 – Moderate:
Cartilage damage increases. Pain, swelling, and reduced mobility become more noticeable.
🔹 Stage 4 – Severe:
Cartilage is nearly gone, causing intense pain, stiffness, and loss of movement. Joint replacement might be considered.
💡 Remember: Early physiotherapy intervention can slow progression, ease pain, and improve movement — keeping you active longer!
