💚 GambleAware Week – Let’s Talk Support 💚
If gambling is starting to take up more space in your life, you don’t have to face it alone.
Knowing the signs is powerful — and so is knowing where to get help. 🌱
Here are a few ways to stay in control:
🎯 Set limits before you play and stick to them
💸 Avoid carrying bank cards when gambling
🔒 Set betting limits online or choose to self-exclude
🚫 Limit alcohol or other drugs — they can make it harder to stop
💬 Talk to someone you trust — a friend, family member, or counsellor
🤝 Reach out for professional support — free and confidential help is available
Taking small steps can make a big difference. Awareness is strength — and reaching out is courage. 💪
Find support at GambleAware NSW https://www.gambleaware.nsw.gov.au/or your local headspace centre.

🎲 Talking Gambling Harm with Year 11 Students at St Joseph’s Regional College
Yesterday our headspace Port Macquarie team visited St Joseph’s Regional College to run an interactive session on gambling awareness with Year 11 students.
Through quizzes, real stories, and open conversation, we explored how gambling can impact young people — from sports betting and gaming crossovers to recognising early warning signs and knowing where to get help. 💬
A huge thank you to the staff and students for their enthusiasm and engagement!
It’s great to see young people learning how to spot the risks, support their mates, and make informed choices. 🙌
If you or someone you know needs support, visit gambleaware.nsw.gov.au or drop into headspace Port Macquarie for a chat. 💚

Gamble Aware Week 💛

We ran an event at TAFE Wauchope today for two classes of apprentice carpenters, where lived experience speakers Dan and John shared their powerful personal stories. Hearing directly from people with lived experience helps us understand gambling harm on a much deeper level — it reminds us that recovery is possible, hope is real, and support can change lives.

A huge thank you to TAFE Wauchope, the gambling impact society NSW, and Gamble Aware for helping make this important conversation happen.

Together, we’re raising awareness and breaking down stigma. 🌿

What a beautiful morning it was on Sunday to get out and help keep our beautiful coastline clean!☀️We joined the Coastal Warriors at Town Beach armed with garbage bags and gloves to pick up rubbish that can potentially harm our native fauna and marine life (and just generally looks yuck).
Next month they’ll be at Flynn’s Beach, on Sunday 16th November from 11am - 1pm. Many hands make light work, so we’d love to see you there! 💚💙💛

💚 It’s GambleAware Week!
Being aware of your thoughts, behaviours, body, and money is the first step to taking charge of your wellbeing.
🧠 Know your thoughts:
Are gambling urges taking up too much headspace?
Awareness helps you step back and regain control.
🎯 Notice your behaviours:
Are you gambling more than planned or feeling pressure to chase losses?
Recognising the pattern is how change begins.
💛 Listen to your body:
Feeling tense, restless or low?
Your body often speaks before your words do — tune in.
💸 Check your money:
Is gambling making it harder to manage your budget or priorities?
Spotting the signs early puts you back in control.
🌱 Understanding these signs isn’t about blame — it’s about empowerment, growth, and making choices that support your future self.
If you ever feel gambling is getting too big a place in your life, help is free, confidential, and always available.

Next week is GambleAware Week (20–26 October) 🎯

A lot of people don’t realise just how much gambling is impacting young Australians — with more teens now betting on sport than playing it.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but support is free, confidential and available for anyone affected by gambling — including young people and families.
