Move to Live - Exercise Physiology

Move to Live - Exercise Physiology I am beyond excited to help you and the ones you care about to move better and look forward to meeting you soon. Meredith

Helping people of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities to move more easily and live joyful lives!
*Improve mobility and movement
*Maintain function and independence
*Prevent and manage chronic disease At Move to Live - Exercise Physiology we help people with chronic conditions, diseases, injuries or people who might be at risk of these, to move their bodies and live joyful lives! These conditions can include diabetes, high blood pressure, back pain, arthritis, pre/post surgery, injury recovery, cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, mental health concerns, Parkinson's Disease and many more. As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, I love helping my clients to develop a positive relationship with movement and their bodies, while helping them to achieve their movement goals and manage their conditions. My clinic is weight-neutral and I work in the Health At Every Size (HAES) paradigm of providing people of all shapes and sizes with healthcare tailored to them and their movement issues. We do not just look at someone's size and blame all of their issues on this one thing, but instead help them with what is truly impacting their life and health with a lens of kindness and compassion. I aim to create a safe space where people can come to move their bodies without fear of judgement, will be truly listened to and their issues will be taken seriously. We don't do diet talk here ... we just focus on helping you move better.
Please feel free to have a squiz at my page, pop down to Port Noarlunga South and see the clinic or to give me a call on 0419 945 436 to chat.

Meet Alyssa!
We have a student from the brand new Adelaide University starting today!
Alyssa (she/her) is in her final year of studying Exercise Physiology and will be undertaking her first placement with us today!
She is a German Shepherd lover, is passionate about travelling, and enjoys being outdoors on walks and runs. 😊
Alyssa will be here Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks, take a little break to work on her Honours, and then be back on Mondays and Fridays for four weeks.
Alyssa will be working with clients throughout her time at Move to Live, and you are welcome to undertake sessions with her for a low cost service. There are a few stipulations, such as undertaking a free 'initial' with Alyssa first, so she can get her practice in, and also having your conditions be appropriate for her level of experience. Chat to our staff if you would like to see if you are eligible.
You can also volunteer your time to undertake a practice initial with Alyssa if your heart desires, so chat to us to book in.
Welcome to Move to Live, Alyssa!

I wrote this three years ago ... nothing has changed enough for me to change my words.

Today is International Women's Day. It is a day where we should uplift women, those who identify as women, and those who are anatomically female and thus need to access services that get umbrella-ed under "women's health".

Women's healthcare leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, it is often bloody atrocious. This is especially true for those with disabilities, people of colour, those in larger bodies, people who are women but happen to be anatomically male, and people who are not women but happen to be anatomically female. Basically anyone in a marginalised community. It is horrendous ... and it makes me very angry.

Women's health is not a niche. It is 50% of the population. It should not be something that is slapped on as a bonus extra to a degree or passed along as 'not something that I deal with' by health professionals. It is healthcare. Plain and simple. It needs to be treated as such. That is, it needs to be better. Scrap that. Not just better, equitable.

I hope that this pattern of less-than-optimal care for this population can be turned around. I promise that at our small but mighty clinic we will continue to do our best to improve healthcare outcomes and advocate for all our clients, no matter their s*x or gender. We will continue to do further learning and better our services for marginalised communities. I call on other health professionals and clinics to do the same. I'm just a girl ... standing on her soapbox ... asking us to be better.

We can do it!

We love helping our clients to reach their travel goals!
This particular client has been attending hydrotherapy to help them prepare for their cruise!
They had such an amazing time and brought us back this adorable magnet as a momento! And yes ... that is a tiny shell inside that glass bottle!!!

New signs, who dis?
Well ... now it is obvious who we are! We have some beautiful new signage above the Clinic and Studio thanks to Paul at Vital Signs & Graphics!
We love that the Studio looks like it officially belongs to us and the Clinic is back to its original white, rather than the rather rusty colour we ended up with after 10 years!
Thanks Paul for making us look so schmick! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

πŸ₯° This video was 10 years in the making!πŸ₯°
This is the footage I took on my first ever day opening my doors all those years ago. It feels like a lifetime ago but I also remember it so clearly.
Now you can see where we are ... with our beautiful clinic and amazing team ... I couldn't have asked for anything better.
Thank you for everyone for your amazing support.
Hope you enjoy this delightful time travel adventure.
P.S. Yes ... those are the SAME PLANTS! 🌱🌱🌱

TEN YEARS OLD TODAY! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
Honestly, I am really not sure how that happened. Well, I do know really.
πŸ’šIt is my amazing team of peanuts. I am beyond proud of the beautiful health professionals and people they have become and I simply couldn't be without them.
πŸ’šOur beautiful community who show up to support us and to work on their movement goals week after week ... rain, hail, or shine.
πŸ’šMy delightful cheer squad of friends, family, beautiful human, and doggo who all provide me with an ear and a shoulder whenever I need it.
πŸ’šAnd ... my incredibly stubborn, always running at 100 miles and hour, and weirdly wonderful brain, that has continued to allow me to push through and know in my heart of hearts that this place is a bloody good idea and that we should just keep swimming.
I am so proud and grateful to all of you for what we have created here! I cannot wait to keep on celebrating with you all into the next decade.
Love your faces.

Just a little reminder that your body is worthy of respect today and every day! πŸ’š

We don't have to love or even like our bodies ... but they are pretty cool and do a lot of amazing things.

Comparisonitis is one of our least favourite conditions here at Move to Live ... so we love to celebrate how awesome YOU are and all the things YOU can achieve, regardless of what anyone else is doing.

We hope you can take some time today to feel as proud of yourself and your achievements as we are!

We know that you don't always need us, and that's ok!

Maybe you are doing really well with your movements and have totally got this.
Perhaps life has gotten in the way and your priorities are a bit different at the moment.
Maybe why you came to see us is resolved and you don't need our help right now.

No matter what is happening or how long it has been, we are like the wing defense of healthcare ... 'Here if you need!' πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Any time you want to come back, no matter if it has been days, weeks, months, or even years ... we are here for you!

P.S. Caitlin plays wing defense and really hates it when I say this. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
