💛 Bittersweet moments as a mum 💛

It’s such a strange, emotional thing to hold two feelings at once, pride and heartbreak.
Watching our 6 yr old read so fluently, far above where she needs to be, fills me with so much pride… yet there’s this ache that comes with it too. Because our almost 11 yr old, who tries so hard, still hasn’t learnt to do the same.

The ironic part? The book D is reading right now, we actually bought it for P’s 8th birthday a few years ago, We wanted her to know she is enough, exactly as she is. And she still is. Every single day, she amazes me in her own beautiful way.

But I’ll be honest, there have been moments I’ve stopped myself from celebrating D’s reading milestones, worried it might make P feel less than. It’s such a complicated, confusing place to sit as a parent 🥺 feeling joy and sadness in the same breath.

One thing I know for sure though, no matter what, I’ve got their backs through every up and down. Always. 💛
