Heart disease is one of Australia's leading causes of death. Heart Research Australia raises funds to support research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Their goal is to reduce the devastating impact heart disease has on families and communities.❤️

1.3 million Australians have one or more conditions related to heart, stroke or vascular disease.
16,275 Australians died of heart disease in 2024.
#1 cause of death worldwide is still heart disease.
Every 9 minutes someone suffers a heart event. That's 157 per day

Happy Primary Health Care Nurses Day.
Today we recognise the nurses who deliver care, connection and support across Australia.

The theme for 2026 celebrates the vital role that primary health care nurses play – from prevention and early intervention to complex care, chronic disease management, and long-term health planning. No matter the setting or stage of life, primary health care nurses make a lasting difference.

Thank you to Kam, Bianca, Gracie, Nicole, Jen and Kellie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Each year in Australia around 1,900 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In most cases the cancer will be diagnosed at an advanced stage, where it is very difficult to treat. That is why we're committed to ensuring that every Australian knows more about ovarian cancer and its early symptoms. We need progress. Let's shine a light on ovarian cancer this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. 🩵

World AIDS Day is a crucial opportunity to reflect on the progress made in combating HIV/AIDS while recognizing the work that still needs to be done to end the epidemic.💙
As of recent years, significant progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, including improved access to antiretroviral treatment, which has reduced the death rate from AIDS-related illnesses. However, challenges remain, and World AIDS Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for awareness, education, and support for those living with HIV.
If you feel the need to participate, consider donating to organizations that work to support people living with HIV and to promote prevention efforts. 💙

This month we are creating awareness around bowel cancer.❤️
Bowel cancer affects all people, all ages; and it is Australia's second biggest cancer killer.
A hair-raising fundraiser held during the month of December named DecemBEARD Australia encourages men to grow a beard in the final month of the year to raise awareness and much-needed funds for bowel cancer.
Our clinic will be participating in this event, and we urge you too as well.
Our clinic can provide you with at home and in clinic screening tests. Please call to book with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Sugar awareness week creates a chance to talk about the health risks associated with too much sugar in our diet, and advocates for better nutrition policies to improve our food environment. 💙

We have known for a long time that having a lot of sugar is not ideal for our health.
Sugary drinks and foods are considered discretionary or “sometimes” foods, because they provide little nutritional benefit while contributing excess energy or “empty calories” to our diet.

Having a lot of sugar in our diet can increase our risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and tooth decay. Sweetened drinks don’t fill us up like regular meals, making it easy to underestimate the energy being consumed.😁

This National Skin Cancer Action Week, Cancer Council is encouraging all Australians to make sun protection a daily habit to protect their skin from UV exposure and reduce the risk of developing skin cancer💛
Fortunately, skin cancer is almost entirely preventable. An easy way to ensure you’re protecting your skin from UV exposure is by making sun protection a daily habit.

SLIP on sun protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible.

SLOP on SPF50 or SPF50+, broad-spectrum, and water-resistant sunscreen. Apply it 20 minutes before going outdoors and re-apply every two hours afterwards.

SLAP on a hat—broad brim or legionnaire style to protect your face, head, neck and ears.

SEEK shade.
Slide on sunglasses—make sure they meet Australian Standards

Please stay safe in the sun and slip, slop, slap, seek and slide😊
