☀️ **Extreme Heat Alert – Please Take Extra Care Today** ☀️
With Sydney temperatures expected to reach 42°C, we’d like to remind our older community members and their families to take extra precautions in this extreme heat.
Hot weather can affect seniors more quickly, so please keep these important tips in mind:
💧 Drink water regularly – Even if you don’t feel thirsty, have small sips often throughout the day.
🏠 Stay inside and keep cool – Remain indoors during the hottest hours. Use air conditioning, fans, or cool damp cloths if needed.
🪟 Close curtains and blinds – This helps keep your home cooler.
👕 Wear light, loose clothing – Natural fabrics like cotton are best.
🥗 Eat light meals – Cold or smaller meals can be easier to manage in the heat.
🧓 Check medications – Some medicines can affect how your body handles heat. Follow your doctor’s advice and seek help if you feel unwell.
📞 Stay connected – Let someone know how you’re feeling, and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Families and neighbours, please check in on older loved ones.
🚑 Know when to get help – Dizziness, confusion, headache, nausea, or weakness are warning signs. Call for medical assistance if symptoms are severe or ongoing.
At St Luke’s Care, your wellbeing is important to us. Please take care, stay cool, and look out for one another today. 💙
