I started coaching Brooklyn back in his triathlon days. Watching him transition fully into cycling has been incredibly rewarding.

Through focused strength and power training, paired with breathing performance coaching, we’ve built not only his resilience but also his endurance performance. 🌬️💪

Huge congratulations to my client - who just led his team to victory at the Australian Schools Teams Sailing Championship in Goolwa, South Australia! 🏆⛵️

Spencer has been working with me 1-on-1 and through my Sports Performance Coaching Program, where we’ve focused on building confidence, mental resilience, and performing under pressure.

After the event, Spencer shared:

“Super stoked to finally come away with the win in what was a very dominating few days until finals, where we started to show a few weaknesses. I knew in my mind that I was able to not only trust myself but also trust my teammates and get them to believe and keep chipping away through the wins and losses.

It felt like a huge step forward in pushing through the mental barriers faced and being able to create this environment for my teammates where we can keep moving forward past our mistakes and work well as a team. It really felt like all my mental skills and lessons were coming together in a time of high stress and pressure, which is exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve over the past year.”

Next up, Spencer and prepare for the Interdominion Championship later this year, while he and his brother Benedict also head to Denmark 🇩🇰 to represent Australia at the Junior Worlds as part of the pathway. Excited to see them both step up on the world stage.

Massive congratulations to .beuzeville for claiming 2nd place in the U17 Girls 1500m freestyle at the Australian National Championships!

This result is seriously special — not just because of the podium, but because of everything she’s overcome to get there.

Over the past 12 months, Macy has:
• Continued to grow inside the St Peters Western program — one of Australia’s most elite swim squads, which she joined two years ago after relocating from Sydney
• Experienced the heartbreak of losing a close family friend
• Recovered from a shoulder injury that forced a complete stroke change
• And, incredibly, found out after Nationals that she’d been unknowingly battling pneumonia over the past few months — managing time in and out of the water, fatigue, and disrupted prep

To deliver a result like that under those circumstances shows a huge amount of grit, resilience, and character.

Macy and I have been working together since 2023 through 1:1 sessions and as part of my online Sports Performance Coaching Group, where we focus on building confidence, mental clarity, and the tools to manage pressure — in and out of the pool.

This AI image shows just that – but it’s not just for show. Meditation and mindfulness are backed by science 🧠💥

It’s been a huge goal of mine to bring meditation & mindfulness into sport – helping athletes:
✅ Find calm before chaos
✅ Stay focused under pressure
✅ Regulate & balance their nervous system 🫁

While some teams have embraced mindfulness to boost performance, there’s still so much more to explore – especially when & how to use it for elite athletes.

One technique that stands out? Resonance Breathing 👃📈
It’s simple, effective, and scientifically proven to:
💪 Enhance physical performance
🧠 Sharpen mental focus
😌 Speed up recovery

🔥 What’s the Science? 🔥

A systematic review & meta-analysis (aka the gold standard of research) by Laborde et al. (2022) looked at how breathing techniques impact athletic performance. This review combined findings from 37 studies involving athletes at all levels — from recreational to elite.

Here’s what they found 👇
📈 Slow-Paced Breathing (SPB) = BIG GAINS 💥
When athletes practiced SPB (like resonance breathing) over time, it had a LARGE positive effect on physical sport performance. Think sharper focus, better decision-making, and stronger mental control.

💨 Breath-Holding (BH) = Small Benefits 🫁
Breath-holding also boosted performance, but it wasn’t as effective as slow-paced breathing.

⏳ Short-Term Use? Not So Much.
SPB, breath-holding, and hyperventilation didn’t show big performance changes in short-term use. The key is consistency.

How to Try Resonance Breathing 🧘‍♂️

This is how you can use it to prep for games, recover after sessions, or calm the nerves before big moments.

1️⃣ Inhale through your nose for 5 seconds.
2️⃣ Exhale through your nose for 5 seconds.
3️⃣ Repeat for 5-10 minutes.

This breathing pattern syncs your heart, lungs, and nervous system, putting you in peak state for performance & recovery.
