Today, iHDS observes International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD), a day to recognise and celebrate more than 1.3 billion people worldwide living with a physical, mental, or sensory disability. The day has been celebrated by the United Nations since 1992.
This year’s theme is "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress." This means creating communities where everyone, regardless of ability, can participate fully, have equal opportunities, and contribute to society. Inclusion benefits not only people with disability but the whole community, driving social progress and innovation.
May today remind us all to celebrate ability, challenge barriers, and continue working toward a more inclusive world.
