February was a great month for birthday celebrations! The end-of-month party was full of energy, with residents coming together to celebrate all the February babies!!
It was wonderful to see everyone joining in, sharing laughs, and making the day special for all the birthday guests.

Today was PIZZA DAY!!

A small group of residents had a blast making their own mini pizzas. Some went for extra spicy, others skipped the pineapple, but plenty piled on the extra cheese.

There’s nothing like taking a bite and seeing that long, gooey cheesy stretch—it would brighten anyone’s day!

And the age-old debate continues—does pineapple belong on pizza? I say it absolutely does!

A couple of bus trips recently proved to be a big hit with our residents!

First up was a scenic drive to Proserpine Dam, complete with morning tea. The water looked cool and inviting, dont worry though, the residents behaved and said they wouldnt go jet skiing…. This time 😉🤣

Then, the following Wednesday, we headed out to Flame Tree for a visit to the Hangar Cafe. If you haven’t discovered this charming spot yet, it’s definitely worth the trip! Nestled right next to the Flame Tree airport runway, residents enjoyed brunch while watching planes take off and land. ✈️

The Lifestyle room was beautifully decorated with hearts and flowers, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that brought out the love and joy in everyone. The festive décor set the perfect mood for Valentine’s Day celebrations, making the space feel special and welcoming.

Creative energy flowed freely, with residents sharing wonderful ideas and crafting beautiful, personalized cards. The activity not only sparked artistic expression but also deepened connections, as each card became a meaningful token of affection and gratitude. The warmth and care put into every creation made the celebration truly memorable for everyone involved.

Residents were also treated to delicious Valentine’s cupcakes, adding a sweet touch to the day. The combination of charming decorations, heartfelt creativity, and tasty treats made the celebration even more delightful, leaving everyone with smiles and a strong sense of togetherness.

Zumba is back up and running again with Cheryl at the helm, bringing infectious enthusiasm and a lively beat that gets everyone moving. Residents eagerly grab their Zumba balls, banging them to the rhythm and enjoying a fun, effective cardio workout that lifts spirits and strengthens bodies.

The revival of Canasta has brought a nostalgic touch, with residents showcasing their card-playing skills and even teaching the younger nurses. This not only encourages social interaction but also stimulates mental agility.

Meanwhile, the choir sessions in Hazelwood, accompanied by Carolyn on the piano, offer a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy music, sing together, and foster a sense of community and joy.

Together, these activities contribute to physical health, mental sharpness, and emotional well-being, creating a vibrant and connected environment for everyone involved.

Ice cream time was a hit at Whitsunday Wing, Hazelwood, Windermere and Tawvale! Residents loved digging into yummy raspberry, old English toffee, and classic vanilla flavors. Even the staff couldn’t resist sneaking a tasty bite. Sweet moments all around!

Proserpine Nursing Home is currently seeking a reliable and motivated casual cleaner/support staff member to join our team, Monday to Friday.

About the role:
You play an important part in maintaining a clean safe and comfortable environment for our residents

Key responsibilities:
Cleaning resident rooms, daily cleans, full cleans and occasional steam cleaning
Working both independently and as part of the supportive team
Following all workplace health and safety procedures

About you:
Hold a current police check or willing to obtain
Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role
Reliable, organised and take pride in your work

What a week of laughs and colour at the residents’ corner — we kicked things off with co****le and bocce (big thanks to Windermere, Whit Wing and CB for bringing the friendly rivalry) and it was an absolute hoot as folks cheered, teased and celebrated every near‑miss and perfect toss.

A sunny pub lunch at Dingo Beach had residents strolling back down memory lane, swapping foreshore stories between bites of chips and plenty of laughter. The colourful jars on the tables were lovingly prepared by our activities staff to add that extra sparkle to meal times.
Later the mani‑pedi station turned into a rainbow parade — polished toes and painted smiles all around.
We finished the week making heartfelt Valentine cards and raising a glass at happy hour with Carolyn leading the toasts; by the end we were louder, lighter, and already excited for the next round of fun.

January ended on a wonderful note with a special birthday celebration for all our January residents in the activities room. It was a warm and joyful gathering filled with smiles, good company, and festive cheer.
