It’s ‘International Day of People with Disability’ (IDPWD).
IDPWD is a day to acknowledge and celebrate the 5.5 million Australians living with disability!
IDPWD happens on 3 December every year and aims to promote inclusion for people with disability. ‘INCLUSION’ means EVERYONE can take part and feel like they belong.
This year’s theme for IDPWD is “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”. The theme is about supporting inclusion to make our communities better for everyone.
There are lots of ways we can work together to support inclusion:
- Give people with disability the same chances as people without disability
- Make sure everyone can use and access health care and take part in education
- Include people with disability in all parts of life
- Take away barriers for people with disability
Together we can increase awareness, promote inclusion and make the world more welcoming for EVERYONE. 🧡
