A lot of the work I do with clients comes from the inspiration of Tara Brach and is based in mindfulness and self-compassion.
I see so much harshness leveled towards my clients fragile and vulnerable inner worlds. In the places that they struggle and stumble.
I have walked this journey too (and still walk it!) and now can be the held and the holder of my own internal struggle and pain.
Why does this capacity matter? If we can bring tenderness to our inner world, this lightens our load and helps us to re-parent the parts of us that hurts.
If we bring loving tenderness first, what follows is greater capacity to meet the need of our inner child.
When we meet the needs of our inner child, we hold deep respect for our feelings and needs. This can change how we choose to live and show up in the world and can lead to behavioural change. We see that we have value and this changes how we choose to live.
Next time you are having a sad or difficult moment. Stop, put your hand on your heart, take a breath and say something tender to yourself. Notice how this shifts things for you.
If you need help with greater self-love and you are struggling with inner content, reach out. I have spaces for individual therapy available.
Much love.
