Sound Baths have the ability to bring you into a deep meditative state and change your brain waves.
Sounds using repetitive notes at different frequencies help to bring your focus away from your thoughts and into the present moment.
When you are in the present moment, you get out of your own way. As you become pure consciousness, pure awareness, and change your brain waves from beta to alpha and even to theta, the autonomic nervous system- which knows how to heal your body much better than your conscious mind does - steps in and finally has an opportunity to clean up. That’s what creates brain coherence.
As you slow your brain waves down and become less aware of your body, your environment, and time, consciousness flows out of the neocortex and toward the limbic brain - the seat of your autonomic nervous system.
At the same time, as these two systems intersect, the autonomic nervous system - whose job is to create balance - steps in and creates coherence in the neocortex, the seat of your thinking mind.
Using combinations of rhythms and frequencies, you can shift from normal beta state (alert, concentrating, reacting) to alpha (creative, relaxed) and even theta (meditative state) and delta (deep sleep, where restoring and healing can occur).
