ACUTE APPOINTMENTS

I have added a new type of appointment to my online bookings- Acute Illness Appointments.

These are 15 minute appointments that are available to both new and existing clients that are seeking health support during an acute illness. Acute illnesses include: colds, flus, viruses including Covid-19, gastroenteritis, food poisoning and urinary tract infections.

These can be a great way to support quicker recovery, assess whether further referral to a GP is necessary, gain access to high grade practitioner only supplements and prevent illness spreading to other members of the family.

These appointments are lower cost ($44) but can provide an invaluable support during an acute illness as we enter into winter.

Winter Solstice Stillness

Did you know the word solstice comes from the words ‘sol’ meaning sun and ‘stit’ meaning stationary or still.

Winter solstice is the ultimate time for stillness, rest and retreat.

I love thinking about all the little un-spouted seeds this time of year, waiting patiently underground for the tap tap tap of water and welcoming warm wave of sunshine that coerces their potential to grow 🌱

Maybe we little humans are just the same…

Use this time to rest, fully rest, knowing that inspiration, motivation and activation are on their way.

Embrace the stillness.

What time is it?

I’m fascinated by the TCM body clock, although it has little scientific evidence behind it, I can’t help but think thousands of years of traditional knowledge counts for something.

I often use it as a bit of a beacon for questioning in an initial appointment.

I find it particularly good when people are describing night wakings or energy slumps that occur around the same time every day.

We then look up the time on the TCM clock and see if the associated organ, or sometimes emotion, holds any relevance for the person sitting in front of me. More often than not, it does!

For example, many people that struggle with poor sleep find that after having alcohol in the evening, night waking increases specifically around the hours between 1am and 3am. Coincidence?

So what time/organ is your body showing you needs a bit of TLC?

I know a cosy place, where you can take a seat. Order a warm drink, and put up those tired feet. We can chat about your woes and your worries too. I’ll remind you of the things that you may be able to do. I’ll mix you up some herbs, they really are divine, just pinch your nose and take a sip, I swear they taste like wine 😉

Happy Winter ❄️ Let me introduce you to a new space I’m practicing from, right next door to the most enchanting wholefood shop I have been to, The Wholefood Store Queenscliff, 34-36 Hesse Street 🌾

Are you tracking your period?

If you suffer from PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, irregular cycles or are trying to conceive, tracking your period is your best tool in supporting you through these conditions.

Having a thorough knowledge of your cycle is so important, not just for your practitioner, but for yourself. Your cycle is actually like a little barometer for your overall health.

The top things I like to track in my patients cycles:

-Cycle length
-Menstruation length and flow
-PMS symptoms and onset
-Ovulation Signs

Check out the blog post over at Living Holistic Health I've put together on PMS for some period tracking apps and tips on helping you through your cycle!

Nice to see the sun after some wild wet weather the last few days!

Did you know that at this time of year, this far down from the equator, it is impossible to get adequate vitamin D levels from sun exposure alone?

Get your levels checked and supplement if needed!

Your doctor won’t check them? Ask me for a pathology request to get them checked- it’s less than a good bottle of Pinot and much better for your health ❄️🌨🧣🌥
