Another thing that can help with your foot pain is the correct footwear.

Supportive shoes can make a huge difference. For your runners I think brands like Asics, Brooks or New Balance.

Other options to try and help relax your feet muscles are:

Rolling a frozen water bottle under your foot (great for superficial structures and icing)

Rolling a golf ball into the base of your foot (gets at your deeper structures)

In the photos you can see 3 options to stretch your calf muscles. Look at the photos carefully and you will see the subtle differences.

When you stretch your calf with your back knee straight you are stretching your gastrocnemius (the big part of your calf at the top)

When you stretch your calf with your back knee bent but your heel still on the floor you are stretching your soleus (smaller deeper muscle that is above your heel)

When you stretch your calf with your back knee straight but rolled onto the outside of your foot you are stretching your peroneal muscles (things run down the lateral side of your lower limb).

All these stretches should be done on both sides and held for 15seconds as a rough guide.
