Turn February Teal 🩵
Educate • Advocate • Elevate
Did you know that only 31% of Australians are aware that ovarian cancer has the poorest survival rate of any female cancer in this country? The symptoms are often missed until the cancer is at an advanced stage and is then very difficult to treat 😔
There needs to be greater advocacy on behalf of people affected by ovarian cancer - we need more research funding and better access to affordable treatment options.
Women (and their loved ones) impacted by ovarian cancer must have their stories told, shared and heard. We need to elevate their experiences to get the word out there.
February is the month to turn things teal and giving day is February 26th 🗓️
If you visit a shop this month and you see fundraising for this cause - buy a ribbon or a pen to show your support and raise awareness, or, you can buy merchandise and donate online - ovariancancer.net.au
AND ladies - listen up! Please 🙏 educate yourselves (and your daughters, friends, anyone and everyone!). Ovarian cancer is NOT an “old age” cancer.
Know the risks, know the symptoms, know how to have this conversation with your GP if you’re concerned.
Ovarian cancer is something that has impacted my family and finding improved ways to screen and treat this terrible disease is very close to our hearts 🩵
And if you or someone you love is affected by ovarian cancer - my heart is with you too. You can find support via the ovarian cancer website, which includes a helpline, emotional and mental health support, support groups, and an amazing teal nurse program. There is also support available for loved ones.
