"Time is the ultimate healer, it's what you do with that time that counts." Regina Brett
When things go pear-shaped in your life, how do you spend/invest your time? Do you frantically run around trying to sort out your stuff? Do you let the world just carry on without you while you read a book or go for a walk? Do you sit in front of your computer or phone waiting for it to magically give you answers to how to deal with the chaos going on around you? Or do you contact all your family and friends sharing with them your woes and hoping they will come and rescue you?
When I came back from Melbourne the other day, I had no internet and only patchy phone reception....for two days. I wasn't bothered overly much as I had things to keep me occupied until the problem sorted itself out (a mobile phone tower had been damaged in the storm on Sunday night). Though it made me think how fused we are these days to technology and without it, some people would feel like they are dying. I was startled by the lack of being able to connect onto the internet. Admittedly, I do run a business and I study, so having access to the internet is necessary. How would I cope if there was no access to the internet for longer periods than a couple of days? Food for thought.
I read books, started my uni assignment, took Laura for a walk, pottered in my garden, watched the rain, and funnily made a list of all the tasks that I needed the internet for knowing I'd get online somewhere.
Have you had this experience, and what did you do to while away the time?
