Mission completed. Another successful Giving Back Australia food run.

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who use their own cars and time to deliver two weeks’ worth of groceries to families across Sydney. Every approved family received fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, chicken, pantry items, sanitiser products and more, enough to support them for two full weeks.

Another fortnightly food run is underway đź’š

Our team has been at the warehouse nice and early, preparing everything for our incredible volunteers. These legends use their own cars and their own time to deliver two weeks’ worth of groceries straight to the doorsteps of families in need right across Sydney.

This is community in action. Quietly showing up, making sure no family feels forgotten, and putting dignity and care into every delivery.

Our team is busy packing the freshest fruit and vegetables for families approved for this week’s food run. Quality matters to us. Everyone deserves food that’s fresh, nutritious, and no different to what we’d put on our own tables. This is about dignity, respect, and making sure families feel equal, not singled out.

3 GENERATIONS OF VOLUNTEERS

Today we met Mohammed Muttaleb, the grandfather of Andalib Rezwan, who is one of our volunteers at Giving Back Australia. Andalib’s mother is also a long-standing volunteer, so their family has been supporting the community for many years. Mohammed was excited to travel from Liverpool to Campbelltown and asked us plenty of questions about how we support families in need. Even though he doesn’t drive, he hopes to accompany his granddaughter every fortnight.

Watching him reminded us of the way our own dads spent their lives helping their communities in quiet but meaningful ways. We understand their impact more clearly now and are grateful for the example they set.

Today’s food run packing is one of our biggest yet as we get ready for this weekend’s food run. It really shows how many families across Australia are doing it tough right now. We are grateful to be in a position to support them, and that only happens because of the effort our volunteers put in and the generosity of our wider community.

Every bag packed and every delivery made is handled with care. We also keep a zero admin fee on our food run so every donation goes straight back to families who need a hand. That commitment is important to us and it makes a real difference for the people we serve.

Our Story

THE DREAM

Australia is a country that offers many opportunities to its citizens, hence many do not see those who are in desperate need of help just to put food on the table for their children. A couple in the city of Bankstown; itself was known as the most multicultural city in Australia, saw there was a gap in the support offered to families who struggle to purchase food to eat. In 2015 a dream was born to feed the hungry, help the afflicted, and lighten the sorrow of all peoples in the community. As Australian Muslims, they wanted to spread peace and hope through a unified love while breaking down the walls of bigotry, and racism; helping all, regardless of race, color, or religion. Wanting to give back to the country they both loved, together they approached several businesses for sponsorship. Once they found a butcher to provide starving families with fresh meat, and a green-grocer agreeing to provide fresh fruit and vegetable this same couple started a page, and Giving Back Australia was born. Operating out of a garage together this couple began putting together food packs and delivering fresh meat, fruit, and vegetables from the boot of their car; they began delivering food to the door of needy families throughout Sydney. Today Giving Back Australia runs several programs from supplying food, to assistance with utility bills through to a getting of drugs program.
