🐻 THANK YOU DOT! 🐻

Dot has been a busy bee knitting 100 care bears for patients at the Women's and Children's Health Network, Pinnaroo Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Lameroo District Health Service and Loxton Hospital Complex.

She dropped by Riverland General Hospital today to make a generous donation of 20 bears.

We have no doubt these will bring smiles of joy and comfort to those who receive them 💙

Skin cancer happens when your skin cells grow abnormally, usually because of too much sun exposure. UV radiation from the sun causes this abnormal growth.

When cells grow out of control, they form a tumour. Tumours can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous and able to spread through your body).
Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer. It develops in melanocytes – the cells that give your skin its colour.

While melanoma is less common than other skin cancers, it's the most dangerous and causes most skin cancer deaths.

Melanoma can grow quickly and spread to other parts of your body, forming secondary cancers. Look for new spots or existing spots that change in colour, size, or shape.

Melanomas often have uneven colours and irregular shapes or borders. These spots can appear anywhere on your body, even in areas the sun doesn't reach.

Noticing changes in yourself isn't always easy. You might brush them off as normal ageing or think they're too minor to worry about.

These changes in your brain can make it harder for you to notice them. Your brain is what you think with, so if it’s changing, so is the way you think.

Two simple strategies can help you catch changes early:
🧠 Take even small signs seriously. If something feels off, get it checked out.
🧠 Trust the people who know you well. If someone close to you says they've noticed a change, listen to them. Sometimes others can see things we can't see in ourselves.
