One of the great smiles of our game 🤫

sometimes we can be born with teeth which are Narrawa in the space available in our arch. The result is natural spacing, known as “Diastemas”.

Diastemas can sometimes result in negative spaces and visual disharmony due to gaps, and open scalloping of the edges (the incisal embrasures).

Not every case needs porcelain veneers, however.

This was an ultra conservative, purely additive result achieved with resin bonding.

Closing spaces with resin bonding can be one of the most technically challenging procedures in dentistry - we were super happy with this result ✨

A common concern many patients have is a gappy smile. These gaps can be natural spaces between teeth, and are called diastemas.

Closing a diastema is a tricky task, as we want it to look natural, and have a firm contact point, so that food and plaque don’t get caught easily.

In this case resident bonding was used to change the shapes of of the teeth and create a contact area which is pleasing and symmetrical.

The way the edges of the teeth scallop, from one to the next, is known as the incisal embrasures. In some people that can be quite open resulting in a lot of negative space.
These two were closed simultaneously during this procedure .

We absolutely loved this case ✨

Do you notice the asymmetry down the midline of this smile? Why has it happened?

Only one of the two front teeth is real the other one is an implant placed 15 years ago.
As we go through life, our facial skeleton is constantly changing with the bone and teeth migrating downwards.
If an implant is placed is fused to the bone at the time of placement. This is why 15 to 20 years later you may notice the implant is at a different political position to some teeth around it.

It’s for this reason that an implant is best delayed until a person is at least 25 if not older.

Sometimes however, it is the best treatment option at the time, and thankfully there are ways to correct the small curve symmetry.

Loved this result where a smile design, trial phase and final ex*****on with hand layered porcelain veneers. We also changed the implant crown to be longer and match the correct small curve. ✨

This before smile was the result of several patch-up treatments over the years. Some of the teeth had composite resin, some had porcelain.

Together with our ceramic team, we restored the radiance and symmetry of this girl’s smile.

The key to long lasting porcelain veneers:
- Meticulous planning
- Thoughtful tooth preparation
- Accurate records
- Careful bonding of the final result.

When teeth are very carefully prepared, and porcelain veneers are very carefully created and bonded, the Dental literature has proven that they can last decades.
