Half Moon Temple acknowledges these beautiful, incredible lands and waters that we are so blessed to practice upon, Wurundjeri Country, these rich and majestic lands that house us, nurture us and give us a sense of home.
Wurundjeri Country is the traditional land of the Wurundjeri-willam people, part of the Kulin Nation, encompassing the Yarra River Valley and Naarm: modern day Melbourne. As "Manna Gum people," they hold a deep, spiritual connection to this unceded land, stretching from the Great Dividing Range to the Yarra River.
Half Moon Temple looks forward to a day where we can all come together to celebrate this magnificent country, an inclusive day that is joyful for ALL. We are Australia proud but Until then we choose not to participate in any "celebration" on this day which is a sensitive day of mourning and grief, a trauma informed perspective shows that healing is still occurring and takes time and respect.
Here are some images, never shared before, of our special Opening Blessing day; three years ago.
Every practice and every breath we take at Half Moon carries the echo of this sacred launch day that opened our Studio with a strong intention of honouring Country, Mother Earth, our Ancestors and the thousands of years of dreaming, spirituality and wisdom woven into the stories passed down through many generations
