We had a lot of fun last weekend with our stand at the Midsumma Carnival. We had some great talks with community members about safe drug use and inclusive treatment pathways.

Even moderate alcohol consumption may be more harmful than we thought—and certain groups are more at risk, according to recent studies. The World Health Organization declared in 2023 that no level of alcohol intake is safe due to its connection with an array of health issues including links to various cancers. And it impacts women in particular, affecting fertility, coordination, sleep patterns, and more. The good news is that science suggests some effects of alcohol can be reversed within weeks. The U.S. Surgeon General has called for adding cancer warnings to alcohol labels—as scientific evidence mounts that even moderate drinking may be more harmful than we thought.
