Bruising around the eyes after rhinoplasty is not uncommon and always temporary - lasting about a week. It occurs due to small blood vessels bleeding under the skin during surgery, particularly when work is done on the nasal bones. Everyone heals a little differently, and some may notice more discolouration than others in the days following the procedure. I use a medication called TXA (tranexamic acid) that reduces eye bruises significantly. Following post operative instructions such as icing and resting with your head elevated helps too.

As a specialist plastic surgeon, my practice comprises both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery utilising contemporary techniques. I am passionate about aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery and undertook further subspecialist training in this field.
