Ahoj my friends! I've just restocked my cube for the Christmas period in Melbourne Central. I've also had my cube changed, and I would love your feedback on how I can make the bracelets look more presentable, or if for this space my setup is acceptable?

Thanks everyone and I hope you are all having an amazing weekend so far!🦉

Aaaaaaaaaand finished the pendant!! Isn't it just stunning??!! I had initially started with the gold cording being the focal feature aside from the labradorite. But after I had completed it, the gold was just too overpowering. Really wish I had taken a photo of the earlier finished piece just be able to compare.

Hubby suggested "why not try with more blue?" So after a bit of trial and error, especially when it comes to the order where the cords will go (because that will determine the colour pattern that you see here), and here is the final result!!

I am so happy with how this turned out, I keep holding it up and admiring it and just loving how it looks! I still think this looks very ancient egyptian and while initially the name Cleopatra came forward, funnily enough who should come forward but Anubis. Even though the pattern and overall look is rather feminine, I will keep the name Anubis for this piece, as well as to honour him too.

Have a great rest of your day and a fantastic weekend!

Working on a new necklace. Took me a couple of days to get the wrapping right and now that that is done, the rest of the design comes along quickly. Like bang, bang, bang.

For some reason Cleopatra's name came through. May consider calling this one Cleo.

So here is something I've been working on over the last few months. My friend and client Martin Reyes from kindly asked me to commission some new pieces for himself and his band members. We'd worked on using the elements in the past, and this time the element was Earth. While googling I came across these arrowheads, and we both fell in love with them. There was also mention of scorpions, so I got these charms too. Once everything was ordered I got straight to it. The arrowheads are: African Bloodstone. The crystals are Onyx, Smokey Quartz, Red Jasper and Petrified Wood all in 6mm beads. Cording is Brown in 1.5mm thickness.

Now I'm not gonna lie, this design has really kicked my butt especially in terms of which knotting styles to use; learning saidknotting techniques, which ones would work and would knot (see what I did there? 🤣). Many hours were spent practicing on thicker cords and then replicating it on the waxed cord. Many ideas came to mind that just didn't work out because it would have caused the whole piece to unravel. The number of tears that were cried as well! Who here can relate?

Finally the first necklace started coming together. A vibe that came to me as I held it up was it felt quite Neanderthal, hunter-gatherer/ really connected to the Earth itself. They felt like talismans that they may very well have made even back then. Hubby really loved how it was looking too!!

The knotting techniques you see here may look simple, but they really took time for me to master and I didn't want to transfer it until I had it down-pat. I am so glad I took the time with it because this design pushed me and challenged me, raised my skill level and forced me to "trust the process!". This commission has forever changed me and elevated me not only as a person (you'll be surprised at how much of a spiritual journey a passion of any kind can be), but as a jeweller and creator too.

And as another friend of mine on a business call even said "Spirit picked you". Spirit sure did pick me! 🤣🤣🤣

Hope you guys like these 😊

And here she iiiiiiiis!! Fully completed now!! I am so happy with how she turned out. I found myself constantly holding her and going "ooooh, ahhhhh".

This is a wrapped Howlite cabochon in 30mm x 20mm. The cording is 100% waxed polyester in 1mm thickness. The colours are Black and Cherry Black, with a 3mm brass bead at the bottom. She is also on an adjustable necklace as well.

This beauty is now available on my website:

Just about finished this one!! This piece has taken a while to do, but I am extremely happy with how it has turned out!! I have had to redo this one a few times in order to get the pattern that I want correctly, and that included getting the knotting techniques down-pat as well. It also took some trial and error to be able to get the black bordering done around the cabochon in the one colour, rather than having the cherry black cording be included in the knotwork.

And I am loving the little coil that I added as a feature, this is fast becoming a favourite bit to do and will become a staple in future projects too.

I tell you what, once you figure out the knotwork and technique and practice practice practice; it knot (see what I did there? 🤣) only becomes smooth sailing from that point on, but you can create your pieces much faster also!

Now time to clean it up, I will put a small brass bead on the very bottom to help give an extra pop of colour and balance, then the necklace part, and she will be ready to go to a new home!

Yes, I am invincible!! Finally figured out how to connect the two wrapped cabochons using this method. When I practice this a few more times, my technique will be snatched!!

I am loving how this is looking so far, still tossing up how I want to do the necklace part, as in the part that sits around the neck, do I keep it simple or do I make something more flowy? Either way, squeeeeee!!!

Sometimes as a crafter, you complete your work but you're just not happy with it. This is the case here. I made more stock of these bracelets, and sadly I had run out of the cording size that I normally use for the beads that are 8mm in size, so I made makeshift cording. Which is do-able, but they just didn't look great and I didn't get very positive feedback for them at the Fantasy Medieval market a couple of weeks back.

Luckily my order of the correct cording arrived, so I will be repurposing them. Some crafters may find doing so rather frustrating, but I actually don't mind because these will be remade fairly quickly. And I would much rather have my pieces look clean, professional and above all eye-catching too. Also luckily, there isn't that much to redo (or at least for me it is not 🤣🤣🤣).

Have a good one wherever you are and for my fellow Aussies, enjoy the long weekend!

Macrame artist friends, I really need your help. I want to start making more wrapped cabochon necklaces, and I want to have two cabochons linked together.

The part that I am having trouble with is how to thread them together so that they stay together, and as tight as possible so that the cabs aren't flailing everywhere. Trying to get the technique right, exactly how many knots need to be made etc. I'm including a picture here, with arrows showing what it is that I need help with.

Any suggestions, or even youtube tutorials would be awesome.
