Are you or someone you know living with treatment resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, or anorexia nervosa?
Researchers from Swinburne University of Technology are conducting a research trial around the effectiveness of psilocybin assisted psychotherapy, for people living with these conditions who have previously trialled traditional treatments like talk therapy and/or medications but are still experiencing ongoing symptoms. 💭
Between 40-60% of people living with obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, or anorexia nervosa may experience treatment resistance, and can be left with a lack of treatment options.
If you’re aged 18-65, live in Melbourne and are interested in participating in the study, click here: https://redcap.link/openingup 🔗
This study has ethics approval (Swinburne University Ethics Committee Reference 2024-7696) and if you have any questions, contact the team at pap@swin.edu.au

The not-so-secret cost of being superhuman: elite sport’s problem with disordered eating

26/04/2024

In case anyone needed to hear this today:
It's not our job to 'fit into' clothes. Clothes are meant to fit us.

It's completely normal for our bodies to fluctuate, grow and change, over time - even outside of eating disorder recovery. This can often result in certain clothes no longer fitting, or needing to buy a different size when shopping.

Despite what diet culture likes to tell us, it's important to wear clothes that fit and feel comfortable - not force ourselves into certain items or sizes that fit last year or last month.

Some helpful ways to focus on clothes that fit you (instead of it being the other way around) include:
👚 Avoiding size fixation - remember that clothing sizes vary widely from one brand to another!
😌 Focusing on comfortable items that feel good on your body, rather than jumping on the latest trend
♻️ Letting go of clothes that you no longer fit into. You could even sell them online and put the money towards items that you feel most comfortable in.

It's also helpful to remember the bigger picture - clothes are just one aspect of self-expression, and your worth and identity have nothing to do with the number written on a size tag. 🧡
