Robertson Doctor The local general practice in Robertson village. Great friendly practice with an emphasis on family

We are trying to make a positive difference to how primary care interacts with it's communities and how communities interact with their health. It's a work in progress, but at this stage I feel it's time to open this conversation up to the community. I hope this FB page will be part of an ongoing conversation about our health.

🦠 Antimicrobial Awareness Week — Preventing Resistance Together 💚

This week is Antimicrobial Awareness Week, a time to raise awareness about the responsible use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines.

Antimicrobials (like antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and antiparasitics) are vital for treating infections — but when they’re used too often or incorrectly, bacteria and other germs can become resistant. This makes infections harder to treat in the future.

At Robertson Doctor, we’re committed to using antimicrobials wisely to protect both individual and community health. 🌿

If you’re feeling unwell, our GPs can assess your symptoms and help determine the most appropriate treatment — whether that’s antibiotics or another form of care.

Together, we can help keep these life-saving medicines effective for generations to come. đź’Š

đź’— Robertson Doctor Supports Cervical Cancer Awareness Week đź’—

Cervical Cancer Awareness Week is a time for us to spread knowledge, bust myths, and remind every person with a cervix that prevention and regular screening can make a huge difference.

Here are some important facts you may not know:

In Australia, cervical cancer is highly preventable through two key strategies: HPV vaccination and regular cervical screening.
(agcf.org.au)

The current guidelines recommend that people aged 25–74 with a cervix do a Cervical Screening Test every five years.
(kemh.health.wa.gov.au)

Since self-collection kits were introduced (for eligible people), there is now more flexibility in how screening can be done, helping those who may feel uncomfortable or face barriers with clinician-collected tests.
(NATA)

Australia is working toward a major health goal: eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem by around 2035.
(acpcc.org.au)

Here’s how you can be part of the effort (even without fundraising):

Stay up to date with screening. If it’s been a while, schedule your Cervical Screening Test.

Talk openly with friends or family about cervical health — knowing the facts helps more people take action.

If eligible, use the self-collection option — it offers privacy and can help overcome barriers.

Make sure HPV vaccination is up to date according to national guidelines.

At Robertson Doctor, we believe in empowering our patients with information. If you’re unsure about when you last screened, or which option is best for you, come in and we’re happy to discuss what makes sense.

Let’s work together so that cervical cancer becomes history. Because knowledge + action = prevention.

💙 World Diabetes Day – 14 November 2025 💙

This year marks World Diabetes Day – a global reminder that diabetes affects thousands of people in our community and we’re all in this together.

The theme for 2024-26 is “Diabetes and Well-being”, with a special focus in 2025 on diabetes in the workplace: how to support our well-being both physically and mentally, every day.

Here at Robertson Doctor, we’re committed to helping you live well with diabetes — or reduce your risk if you don’t have it — and we’d like to share a few simple ways you can join us:

🔹 Know your numbers – If you’re at risk (family history, overweight, inactive), talk to your GP about a check-up.
🔹 Make well-being a priority – Balanced diet, regular movement, good sleep and managing stress all support healthy blood sugar and overall wellness.
🔹 If you live with diabetes – Stay up to date with your check-ups, discuss any challenges (physical or mental) with your GP, and know we’re here to support you in your journey.
🔹 At work and beyond – Whether you’re in an office, field job or shift work, your health matters. It’s OK to ask for what you need to stay well.

📞 If you’d like to book a diabetes review, a health check-up or simply talk about ways to support your well-being, call us on (02) 4885 2569 or book online via HotDoc.

Let’s commit together to a future where diabetes doesn’t limit the life you want to live. 💚

💙 Movember – Let’s Talk Men’s Health 💙

November is Movember, a month dedicated to raising awareness of men’s health issues — including mental health, su***de prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

Here are some important facts to keep in mind:

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Men are three times more likely than women to die by su***de.

Early detection and regular check-ups save lives.

Even if you’re not participating in fundraising this year, there are simple ways you can get involved and support men’s health:

Check in with the men in your life — a conversation can make a huge difference.

Encourage loved ones to book routine health checks.

Educate yourself and others about signs, symptoms, and preventive health measures.

Focus on your own wellbeing — physical and mental health matter.

At Robertson Doctor, we’re committed to supporting the health of all our patients, including men’s health. This Movember, let’s raise awareness, start conversations, and take action — no matter how small.

📢 We’ve Upgraded Our Recall & Reminder System!

To make things easier for our patients, Robertson Doctor has introduced a new recall and reminder system through HotDoc đź’š

This change will help us streamline our processes and ensure you receive important reminders more efficiently.

If you receive a text message or email from HotDoc saying that your GP has a message for you, it may relate to:
âś… A vaccination reminder
✅ A health check that’s due
âś… Test results that have arrived

There’s no need to worry — it’s simply a friendly reminder to book an appointment with your regular GP.

You can book online via HotDoc or call us on (02) 4885 2569 to make an appointment.

Thank you for helping us keep your healthcare simple and seamless! 🌿

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

At Robertson Doctor, we’re proud to stand in support of all those affected by breast cancer — the fighters, the survivors, and the families who walk beside them.

This month is a reminder of the importance of early detection. Regular check-ups and screenings save lives. đź’ž

💚 Hi Robertson! Kim here, Robertson Doctor’s Practice Manager. 💚

I wanted to take a moment to connect with our community, as Mental Health Week recently passed — though, at Robertson Doctor, we believe mental health deserves our attention every week of the year.

The number one step should always be to practice self-compassion. đź’š
We are often our own worst critics, holding ourselves to impossible standards shaped by society, childhood experiences, and the pressures of everyday life. True healing begins when we learn to speak to ourselves with the same kindness, patience, and understanding that we offer to others.

At Robertson Doctor, our doctors and staff take mental health very seriously. We’re passionate about creating a space where our patients — and our team — feel supported, heard, and cared for.

Here are a few ways to care for your mental health on a regular basis:

✨ 1. Check in with someone — a friend, family member, or professional.
This is often the hardest step, especially when it feels difficult to put feelings into words. Emotional literacy isn’t something most of us were taught, yet it’s essential for well-being. Talking through your experiences can lighten the load and remind you that you’re not alone.

✨ 2. Take small moments to pause and reset.
Step back when life feels overwhelming — go for a walk, breathe deeply, listen to music, or do something that helps you feel grounded. These moments of calm aren’t indulgent — they’re essential.

✨ 3. Reach out for professional support when needed.
There is incredible strength in seeking help. Whether it’s from a friend, mental health professional, or your GP, reaching out shows self-awareness and courage, not weakness.

This Mental Health Week — and every week — we at RobDoc ask you to remember that you don’t have to have it all together. Taking small steps, showing yourself grace, and allowing yourself to rest are all forms of strength.

Let’s continue to check in with ourselves and each other, to talk openly, support one another, and remind our community that no one walks this journey alone. 💚

🌼 Today is R U OK? Day 🌼

A simple question can make a world of difference.
At Robertson Doctor, we encourage everyone to check in with the people around them – friends, family, colleagues, and even those you might not know so well.

Let’s start more meaningful conversations today, and every day.
Together, we can make a difference.
