Today marks the start of National Skin Cancer Action Week 💛

This initiative is a cause very close to us at Skin Clinic Robina as we diagnose, treat and remove skin cancer in various forms, every day. In Australia alone, over one million nonmelanoma (NMSC) treatments are given annually.

We hope for increased awareness and advocacy for sun protection, better screening rates, and changed attitudes in society that reflect how dangerous UV exposure can be.

Please join us this National Skin Cancer Action Week as we share stories, educational Q&As, and information around Australia's national cancer, and as always, get your skin checked!

Did you know surgically removing a keloid can actually make it grow back or enlarge?

This patient sought treatment for keloids caused by ear piercings. We used a combined approach of both Vbeam laser and steroid injections over the course of 12 months.

Keloids are usually triggered by a skin injury, an insect bite, acne, an injection, body piercing, burns, hair removal, and even minor scratches and bumps.

Even if they adopt safer habits later in life, much of the harm may already be done. Experiencing just one blistering sunburn during childhood or adolescence can double a person’s risk of developing melanoma as an adult!
