To the Mum Who’s Hanging On By a Thread:
Alright, Queen, let’s cut the 💩. You’re knackered. Overwhelmed. Touched out. Running on coffee and willpower, wondering if you’ll ever feel like a bloody human again instead of a 24/7 snack dispenser and housemaid.
Sound about right?
Your kids are gorgeous (most of the time), but let’s be honest — they’re also relentless little tornadoes. Between the tantrums, the endless “Muuum!” on repeat, and the Lego landmines underfoot, it’s a miracle you haven’t legged it to Bali already?
And then there’s the guilt, isn’t there? Oh, the guilt. How dare you want a moment to yourself! A coffee that’s actually hot. A shower where no one’s busting in to ask existential questions about dinosaurs. Heaven forbid you dream of shaving your legs and feeling like a bloody goddess for five minutes.
But here’s the thing: you deserve a break. You deserve to feel like you again — not just “Mum,” the household CEO (without the attached paycheck mind you) but the woman you were before you were covered in Vegemite or vomit fingerprints (who actually is that person, is she even there anymore?)You’re not selfish for wanting time to yourself. You’re human.
