Ultrasound is a powerful first step in diagnostic imaging.
It doesn’t use radiation and gives clear images of soft tissues in real time.
Ultrasound is used to assess:
Blood flow
*️⃣Check circulation, detect clots, or reduced blood flow
Joints and muscles
*️⃣Identify tears, inflammation or fluid related to pain or injury
Abdominal symptoms
*️⃣Look for causes of pain like gallstones, liver changes, or kidney stones
Neck and thyroid
*️⃣Evaluate lumps, swelling or thyroid nodules
Women’s Health
*️⃣Investigate pelvic pain and assess ovarian cysts, fibroids or IUDs
Pregnancy care
*️⃣Confirm early pregnancy and monitor baby’s growth and development
Breast changes
*️⃣Examine lumps and determine if they’re fluid-filled or solid
Testicular symptoms
*️⃣Assess pain, swelling, inflammation or reduced blood flow
Investigate lumps and bumps
*️⃣Determine if fluid-filled or solid
Ultrasound examinations help your doctor make decisions about the next steps in your care.
If you’ve noticed a change in your body or a new symptom, speak to GP. Early imaging can provide clarity and reassurance.

Ever wondered what happens after your scan?
While your appointment might feel quick, there’s a lot of expertise and care behind what happens next.
It’s where your images become meaningful insights about your health.
▫️ Your images are carefully reviewed by one of our specialist radiologists
▫️ They analyse the scan in detail and look for anything clinically relevant
▫️ A detailed report is then prepared and sent to your referring doctor

🩺 At your next visit, your doctor will discuss these results with you and guide the next steps in your care.

Why would your doctor refer you for an MRI?
MRI scans give detailed images of the soft tissue inside the body.

This helps doctors investigate a wide range of conditions, including:
🧠 Brain and neurological conditions
🦴 Spine and back pain
💪 Joint and ligament injuries
🏃 Sports injuries
🔍 Tumours and soft tissue abnormalities

MRI is one of the most detailed imaging tools available and doesn’t use radiation.

Have you spoken with your doctor about your lung health?

Lung cancer symptoms are not always obvious. The Cancer Council reminds us to watch for:
➡️ A cough that won’t go away
➡️ Shortness of breath
➡️ Chest pain that’s worse with deep breathing or coughing
➡️ Coughing up blood
➡️ Unexplained weight loss or tiredness
➡️ Chest infection that lasts more than 3 weeks or keeps coming back
➡️ Voice changes like hoarseness
You may be eligible for the National Lung Cancer Screening program.
This uses a low-dose CT scan to check for early signs of lung cancer

If you’ve noticed any changes, even small ones, speak with your GP 🩺.

🔴 And if you’ve been referred for an x-ray or CT, Central Queensland Radiology is here to support your care.
