SPECT/CT is not a typo and not science fiction.
So what exactly is that?

SPECT stands for Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography.
🫀🫁🧠It shows how blood flows to your tissues and organs.
CT stands for Computed Tomography.
👀💀 🖼It gives detailed images of how things look inside your body.

When combined, SPECT/CT provides a powerful view of both function and structure. It helps doctors detect bone conditions, heart problems and certain cancers with impressive accuracy.

This scan is especially useful when:
✴️symptoms are hard to explain
✴️other imaging shows no cause for chronic pain
✴️when diseases like cancer need careful monitoring over time.

🩺Always speak with your doctor when you have symptoms that won't go away. They're in the best position to know which tests are right for you.

What does radiology have to do with heart health?
Cardiac imaging plays a vital role in helping your doctor determine how well your heart is working 💓.

Following your initial heart health checks, your GP might recommend scans like:
♦ CT Calcium Score
♦ CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA)
♦ Echocardiography
♦ Myocardial Perfusion Scan

These scans give a detailed view of your heart and blood vessels.
Helping detect narrowed arteries, poor blood flow or early signs of heart disease.

When the results come back all clear 🙌
Many patients come to us worried and wondering what their scan will show.
Persistent pain, niggling symptoms or a family history that's playing on their mind.
So when the images show there's no cause for concern, our team celebrates too!

Because diagnostic imaging isn't always about problems.
It's also about bringing clarity, reassurance and peace of mind.

Cancer touches so many lives, directly or through someone we care about.
This World Cancer Day we're sharing the powerful role that diagnostic imaging plays in cancer care.

💎Ultrasound or CT screening can detect cancer early when it's often most treatable
💎MRI can stage the spread of cancer and guide treatment decisions
💎PET tracks how treatment is working so that care stays on course
Diagnostic imaging gives doctors the full picture so that they can act quickly and effectively. Giving patients a clear path forward.

Because behind every diagnosis there's a person who deserves the best possible outcome 💟

A brief explainer of common medical imaging:
💠 X-ray
Used to diagnose bone and joint conditions.
Quick access, quick procedure.

💠Ultrasound
Uses sound waves to create images of organs and blood vessels. Guide injections.

💠CT
Detailed X-ray cross-sectional images of organs, tissue structures and blood vessels.

💠MRI
Uses magnetic fields and radio frequency waves for highly detailed tissue images.

💠PET
Shows both function and structure of organs and tissues using a radiotracer.

💠DEXA
Also called bone densitometry for early osteoporosis detection.

💠Dental
Also called OPG to assess tooth and jaw health, and plan surgery.
