Sometimes life forces you to slow down… and that’s not always a bad thing.

So, turns out when I fell over in Taiwan I actually broke a few bones in my foot and ankle. �No running for at least 8 weeks for me!

Of course I was disappointed to miss the Melbourne Marathon this coming weekend, but honestly… I’m actually really enjoying this forced break.

Just because I can’t run doesn’t mean I can’t train.� I’m using this time to rebuild, get strong and set myself up to come back even better. My body and mind are both grateful for the rest - a little reset from the kms, the pounding and the long solo hours out on the trails.

I’m sharing this because injuries aren’t setbacks, they’re opportunities.� We all face stuff that throws us off course but it’s how we respond that matters. It’s all about perspective. You can give up or you can use the time to work on something else, to grow in a new way.

8 (maybe 12) weeks off running is nothing in the grand scheme of things if it means I come back stronger, faster and hungrier than ever.

Sometimes stepping back is what launches you forward.
