A couple of weeks ago, I made the decision to close my bricks and mortar business. With countries at war, affecting our little country thousands of miles away, it did not make good business sense to persevere, especially when so much is unknown. Also, having suffered from my own mental health issues in the past, I am very cautious about falling into that black hole again. And I've put in a lot of work to stay out of that headspace - yet I'm still cautious. Closing a business is not an easy decision, throw in the fact that my partner was working away, I don't have my parents to nut through logistics, and I was feeling very much alone. But I had a toolkit to lean into and it didn't take long to calm my system.
It concerns me, what about those who have been feeling alone and lost during this crisis, how are they coping? What tools are they using to cope? High levels of stress dysregulates the nervous system, causing terrible inflammation. Together with poor food choices and toxin exposure, it's a ticking time bomb. You no longer make decisions with clarity, you become anxious, fearful, illogical and irrational. So I wonder, do you have a way to regulate your nervous system during times of crisis? I will be going in depth on this issue in my course if you wish to learn more π
