Myopia (short-sightedness) is more than just blurry distance vision. It occurs when the eyeball grows longer than normal.
This can increase the risk of eye conditions such as retina detachment and glaucoma.
Standard glasses can help make vision clearer, but they do not prevent the growth of the eye. There are special lenses to help slow down the changes of myopia.
That’s why if your child is short-sighted, it is important to have regular eye checks with an optometrist so we can intervene early and monitor closely.
