Carmen Alvarado is a Nutritional and Herbal Medicine practitioner, based in Campbelltown, NSW. She also worked for 10 years as a nurse. She has combined the knowledge that she has gained from these two different fields of health and medicine, to provide guidance and programmes to support those who need to change their view and habits related to food and cooking. She was further inspired to provide these services to other, due to having to make changes herself for other family members. Carmen uses her love of food, cooking, herbs and anything else related to eating, to inspire and motivate others to love food and, to use food for better health; as she feels that if food is meant to be enjoyed and shared, not a death sentence. Some days are a struggle to get through let alone cook dinner. On these days I tend to go for what is quick, easy and will hit the spot.... today spaghetti with home made bolognese sauce. To add a little more 'nutrients' I added some nutritional yeast flakes, to hit the other cheesey spot😁 instead of cheese.... and a lot easier than grating it too 🙃

Nutritional yeast is rich in B vitamins, plant-based protein, and antioxidants, making it a simple way to boost everyday energy and nourishment. It also contains beta‑glucans, gentle fibres that support immune health and gut wellbeing

Sometimes we get too caught up in trying to make super healthy, gourmet style dishes, that it takes away from the enjoyment of eating and appreciating the food. Like many chefs have said, simple comfort food is always great....though not all the time (had to make some kind of health statement!!)

No matter what you may be doing, always enjoy your food!
